Black & White; Closed Captioned; English Subtitles; Special Edition From the mind of screenwriter -- and Kurosawa-collaborator ("Seven Samurai," "Ikiru") -- Shinobu Hashimoto comes this epic that examines a bloody rivalry.
A crazed samurai hacks anything and anyone in his path to feed his personal sense of glory. Village by village, this unstable warrior kills with abandon and, more importantly, has no sense of honor or spirituality.
He then meets an equally gifted swordsman, a principled fencing instructor, who just might end the wanton slaughter. A celebrated samurai film about the life and death of a brilliant samurai/assassin who uses his skill to fulfill impulses of lust and revenge. Sword Of Doom video
$28.65 Akira Kurosawa's highly acclaimed film, set in feudal Japan, presents an intriguing tale of violent crime in the woods, told from the perspective of four different characters--a bandit (Toshirô Mifune), a woman (Machiko Kyô), her husband (Masayuki Mori), and a woodcutter (Takashi Shimura). Only two things about the incident seem to be clear--the woman was raped and her husband is now dead. However, the other elements radically differ as the four participants and/or witnesses relate their own stories (with the dead man, eerily enough, speaking through a medium). As each account is revealed, what seemed black and white turns to various hues of gray, leading to surprising--and confounding--relevations.
A landmark of international cinema, RASHOMON won the prestigious Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival in 1951, bringing both Kurosawa--and Japanese ...

$31.25 In this dazzling epic from Akira Kurosawa, a petty thief named Kagemusha (Tatsuya Nakadai) gets saved from a death sentence because he resembles the warlord Shingen Takeda (also Nakadai). The warlord has been fighting two other leaders for control of 16th-century Japan and impersonators often take his place during battles to put him out of harm's way. Because of Kagemusha's strong physical similarities to the warlord, he's a perfect choice for a "shadow warrior." However, ...

$10.29 Marvel Comics presents a second big-screen version of THE PUNISHER, with this action-packed adaptation from screenwriter-turned-director Jonathan Hensleigh. Frank Castle (Tom Jane) is a retired F.B.I. agent spurred into action after the merciless slaying of his wife, father, and son. Adopting the superhero guise of the Punisher, Castle aims to wreak vengeance by tracking down the killers. All clues point to Howard Saint (John Travolta), a ruthless businessman and nightclub owner whose son was mistakenly killed by Castle in a botched undercover operation back in his F.B.I. days. Unique among Marvel superheroes, the Punisher possesses no special powers, just remarkable strength paired with a blind determination to avenge his family. As he hunts down Saint, Castle surrounds himself with three fellow societal outcasts to get the job done, namely Joan (Rebecca Romijn), Bumpo (John Pinette), and Dave (Ben Foster). Director Hensleigh eschews flashy ...
