4 stars a beautiful, melodic and modern piece of art
This is a wonderful record and I would recommend it to just about any jazz lover. I've been following John Ellis's career for a number of years and adored his "Roots, Branches, and Leaves" album which came out a couple of years ago. After impatiently waiting for his next record, I was so excited when it finally came out. One foot in the swamp is beautiful, exciting, and complex with its mix of modern and traditional jazz sounds.
