A song bird gone before her time...
I first heard Nancy LaMott on
the Jonathan Schwartz's show (WNEW)
over a year ago. (Great show by
the way) I heard a song or two during the program and didn't catch her name.
I could not get that voice out of my head, and went to the web site to find
out who that song bird was.
Nancy LaMott, and the songs I heard were from this album/disc/whatever. Needless to say, I ordered all of her works, and everyone is a winner. This work is, at least in my opinion, probably her best not only because it was recorded live (at The Tavern), but also because you got hear alittle about her between songs. You don't get that kind of intimacy with a studio cut.
A better voice I have not heard, and perhaps Jonathan might agree with me.
Some songs are sad, some happy, and some, somewhere in between.
A sad note is that this song bird left us a few months after she did that live performance, but she bravely gave it all she had, and I only wished I had met her in person. Now God has that song bird, but we at least have her recorded works to remember her by.
No matter what kind of music you listen to, this is a must for your listening ears. It just doesn't disappoint, never will.
