Peter Nero I've Gotta Be Me/Summer Of '42 CD

 Not his best stuff
These two albums are from Nero's Columbia years, during which he cranked out a bunch of Muzak-like works. One of them even features a character-less chorus. Nowhere do we find the Peter Nero who combines classical and jazz with pop music or standards. I bought this CD because I wanted all of Nero's CDs, but his best stuff is still his old RCA stuff and his more recent remakes of those old cuts. I'm still dreaming of a double CD of the RCA albums Piano Forte and The Colorful Peter Nero.

 easy listening piano
nice piano music from peter nero normally associated with a jazzy motif.these tunes are some of the ones that were popular in the early seventies.over all nice listening

 Summer of 42 was a HUGE HIT for Peter!
And deservedly so. these are two of Peter Nero's most beautifully orchestrated albums. These are NOT jazz albums and should not be disappointing as a result. They are and were designed for melody and romance in the Nero style. Buy this one soon!!!

 SUPERB NERO
This cd is worth buying for "Soulful Strut" (which later became more popular as "Am I The Same Girl" by Dusty Springfield and years later Swing Out Sister). Peter's version of "Ob La Di, Ob La Da" is superb with a wonderful orchestration. I still have this on vinyl. I saw Peter in concert many years ago in Massachusetts and he was wonderful. I hope his back catalogue is completely re-issued soon especially the tribue album to Herb Alpert.
