| | Jackson 5 Gold CD Jackson 5 Discography of CDs
(3 Customer Reviews)
The Jackson Five/The Jacksons: Michael Jackson, Tito Jackson, Jermaine Jackson, Marlon Jackson, Jackie Jackson, Randy Jackson.
Recorded between 1969 & 1976. Includes liner notes by David Ritz.
Digitally remastered by Jeff Willens (Universal Mastering Studios East).
The Jackson 5 kicked off the '70s representing Motown's next generation by scoring a record-setting four consecutive Number One singles. In the process they also blew the doors open for future boy bands, including the Osmonds, New Edition, and millennial 800-pound gorillas Backstreet Boys and 'N Sync.
The two-disc ANTHOLOGY is newly remastered and recompiled and includes all charting hits, important B-sides and a number of tracks previously unavailable on CD. Starting with the infectious bass, chicken scratch guitar, and chiming harmonies of "I Want You Back," "ABC," and "The Love You Save" it's not surprising how this bubble-gum manna seduced a whole nation. Fronted by 12-year old vocalist Michael, these Indiana siblings also found chart success with ballads ("I'll Be There," "Never Can Say Goodbye"). Other tracks point to the Jackson 5's extraordinary range covering Jackson Browne ("Doctor My Eyes") and Clyde McPhatter ("Little Bitty Pretty One"), dabbling in fuzz-guitar laden psychedelic soul ("I'll Bet You"), and trafficking in some serious funk ("Get It Together").
Producers include: The Corporation, Hal Davis, George Gordy, Jerry Marcellino, Deke Richards.
Compilation producer: Harvey Weinger.
Liner Note Author: David Ritz.Living Blues (11-12/01, p.80) - "...A fine place to begin appreciating the soulsters: its 36 tracks include all 20 of their 1969-75 R&B hits..." Purchase Gold CD To buy, Click on price to add to cart | Johnny Otis 1945-1947 CD (2002)

| | Gina Sicilia Allow Me To Confess CD (2007) Digipak
Gold album
$13.49 On Allow Me to Confess, her recording debut, 22-year old Gina Sicilia comes across as a young Etta James, both in the power of her voice and in her repertoire. Based in Philadelphia and more experienced than one would expect from someone at her young age, she performs blues, blues ballads, soul, and some 1960s-style R&B. While guitarist/producer Dave Gross gives some of the songs a 1950s jump blues feel, Sicilia sings a tune apiece from Big Maybelle, Esther Phillips, and Etta James, plus her own originals. Whether any of her songs will catch on as future R&B/blues standards is open to question, but certainly Gina Sicilia will be a force in this music for many years to come. ~ Scott Yanow
Philadelphia’s own Gina Sicilia began singing at the age of three and hasn’t stopped since. Exposed to music early on by her parents, Gina grew up listening to Doo-Wop and the music of the 50’s & 60’s. Upon hearing blues legend Bobby Bland for the first time at the age of 14, she was instantly enthralled by the raw emotion and power of blues & soul. After years of polishing her vocal and songwriting skills, she began singing in clubs around the Philadelphia area, and began performing at such acclaimed venues as Warmdaddy’s, Steel City Coffee House, AJ’s Blue Thursdays, Scotland Yard and the Bluetone Café. More than just a throwback to the great blues & soul vocalists of the 50’s & 60’s, Gina uniquely separates herself from the pack of current vocalists with a style that is neither forced nor cliché.Now 21, this soulful, passionate blues vocalist and songwriter has just completed her debut album. Entitled “Allow Me To Confess”, this project had been a long time in the making. The record is a reflection of Gina’s diverse musical talent and tastes, and of the years she spent honing her vocal chops and songwriting skills. The album consists of eleven ...
| | Williams & Bray Bluegrass Hoedown CD (2007)
Gold CD music
$15.19 Here are foot-stomping hoedowns, a jig, a polka, and two sweet waltzes from the American square and old time country dance heritage, played bluegrass styles and long enough for dancing, by one of the Northwest's best known traditional band.Williams & Bray was formed in the mid-1980’s by two couples who have been playing bluegrass and old time pioneer dance music for over 40 years. Harley and Shera Bray came to the Puget Sound area from Illinois. In the early 1960’s, Harley and his brothers Nate and Francis, along with Red Cravens performed as “The Bray Brothers & Red Cravens,” also known as “The Bluegrass Gentlemen,” sometimes with John Hartford as their fiddler. They had a weekly live bluegrass radio show out of Clinton, Illinois. This band had a major influence in the development of bluegrass music, and the recordings they made in that era are still available ...
