Macavine Hayes was born in Tampa, Florida on June 3rd 1943. His family farmed and he was the oldest of 5 sisters and 5 brothers. He remembers, "There was always something to do down on the farm, we listened to the radio and got up on the back porch and played the music of Chuck Berry and Jimmy Reed."In the 60s he met Guitar Gabriel playing on the streets of Tampa. He followed his new friend back to Winston-Salem, North Carolina. "Gabe taught me how to experience the road, sleep outside, go to some gals house and spend the night sometimes. Go to church on Sunday, we always carried nice suits and shoes. We would look good. We did a lot of travelin'. We went to Atlanta down to Augusta and all through Florida. We played at juke joints and lay a hat down. Gabe was a free spirit and taught me that you can go anywhere you want to go. We ran a drink house together for years down on Claremont Street. Living with Gabe was not a hard life; you just had to drink all the time.
Personnel: Macavine Hayes (vocals, guitar); Timothy Duffy, Cool John Ferguson (guitar); Michael Parrish (piano); Ardie Dean (drums).

$12.19 With this album, years of personnel changes ended for Fleetwood Mac with the departure of guitarist Bob Welch. The remaining core of the group (Mick Fleetwood, John McVie and Christine McVie) invited guitarist/vocalist Lindsey Buckingham and singer Stevie Nicks to join, and thus began the most commercially successful period for Fleetwood Mac. With 3 strong songwriters in Nicks, Buckingham and Christine McVie, FLEETWOOD MAC was their first number-1 album.
PETER GREEN'S FLEETWOOD MAC, the band's full-length debut, is miles removed from commercially tailored soft rock of Fleetwood Mac's 1970s incarnation. The '60s version of the band, led by guitarist/singer Peter Green, was edgy, psychedelic, and rooted deeply in the blues. Green's love of revved-up 12-bar jams, raw boogie grooves, and shredding electric leads come together beautifully on this album, with the help of slide guitarist/singer/pianist ...
| | Eddie Hinton Very Extremely Dangerous CD (1978)
Drinkhouse songs
$12.59 Eddie Hinton's 1978 debut came more than a decade after the kudos he received for his songwriting and his session work as a guitarist. He played guitar on countless sessions as the guitarist at the famed Muscle Shoals studio in northern Alabama and everyone from Bobby Womack to Aretha Franklin recorded his songs. When it came time to make an album of his own, he did so at the same studio, with other topflight players comprising the Muscle Shoals rhythm and horn sections.
Hinton sings nine originals here and one by his main influence, Otis Redding ("Shout Bamalama"). Hinton sought to imbue his singing with the same rich emotional presence as Redding's--but has a voice all his own, raspier than that of Otis. This is a remarkable first album. Sadly, it was mishandled on its release (the ...
| | Stevie Ray Vaughan Greatest Hits CD (1995)
Drinkhouse album
$6.25 Stevie Ray Vaughan & Double Trouble: Stevie Ray Vaughan (vocals, guitar); Reese Wynans (keyboards); Tommy Shannon (bass); Chris Layton (drums); Doyle Bramhall.
When Stevie Ray Vaughan's helicopter crashed in August 1990, the world lost more than just a musical giant. Stevie Ray's short life contained all the elements of a hero's journey--from obscurity, through adversity, to glory. His meteoric rise in the public's eye began after a stellar performance at the 1982 Montreaux Jazz Festival, which led to a gig with David Bowie (on LET'S DANCE) and a demo that ended up becoming TEXAS FLOOD, an outstanding debut from one of the most influential blues artists ever to call Texas home.
Five years after his passing, Vaughan is honored with a GREATEST HITS collection, gathering songs from each phase of his recording career. From that first album comes the seminal "Pride And Joy," a hard-swinging rhythmic twister revealing Stevie Ray's prowess on the guitar. The man was ...
| | Long John Baldry It Ain't Easy CD (1971) Bonus Tracks; England; Remastered
Drinkhouse CD music
$11.05 It Ain't Easy features a British blues/rock lineup befitting the man behind the Long John Baldry moniker. This album returns Baldry to a decidedly edgier and hipper audience, with a literal cast of all-stars on some of the more adventurous material he had covered to date. This is no doubt due, at least in part, to the involvement of rock superstars Rod Stewart and Elton John. (In fact, John confesses to have taken the last name in his stage moniker from Baldry's first.) Among their contributions to the project, Stewart and Elton divided the production tasks -- each taking a ...
