John Wayne and Ella Raines star. A loner is accused of murder while falling in love with the niece of his boss. When Rocklin arrives at a ranch where he's to work as a cowhand, he learns that his employer was just murdered. Although he has no friends there, and no money, this tough cowboy starts right in fighting renegades, tracking the killers, falling in love and devising a plan to inherit the dead employer's riches.
