A British sea captain is given permission by Queen Elizabeth I to commit acts of piracy against the Spanish armada and colonies in the New World. Claude Rains and Errol Flynn star. The heart-pounding tone of Michael Curtiz's classic swashbuckling adventure THE SEA HAWK is established moments after the opening credits, when 16th century British pirate captain Geoffrey Thorpe (Errol Flynn) leads a thrilling raid on the galleon of a Spanish ambassador. When the roiling, chaotic clash is over, Thorpe's men have captured the ambassador and Thorpe has learned the Spanish are planning to wage war against England. He rushes home to warn Queen Elizabeth (Flora Robson), only to find that certain powerful members of the Queen's court, concerned with his pirating tactics (and pursuing their own selfish agendas) have ordered Thorpe be put on trial.
THE SEA HAWK, based a novel by Raphael Sabatini, joyously punctuates the scenes involving complicated political intrigue with several cataclysmic sea battles that rank among the best ever committed to celluloid. The film, which garnered three Academy Award nominations, features a spirited performance from Flynn that ranks among his best. Additional cast: Clifford Brooke (William Tuttle), Ellis Irving (Monty Preston), and Alex Craig (Chartmaker).
Approximate budget: $1,750,000.

$22.15 In Michael Curtiz's swashbuckling spectacle about the infamous outlaw and his band of merry men who "robbed from the rich and gave to the poor," Robin Hood (Errol Flynn) fights nobly for justice against the evil Sir Guy of Gisbourne (Basil Rathbone) while striving to win the hand of the beautiful Maid Marian (Olivia de Havilland).
Flynn joyously embraces the role widely considered the best of his bountiful array of swashbuckling legends. Delivering his lines and performing dashing acrobatics (he did most of his own stunts) with breezy élan, he darts across the intricate sets of THE ADVENTURES OF ROBIN ...

Sea Hawk movie DVD
$14.45 In the classic swashbuckling epic that catapulted him to worldwide stardom, Errol Flynn plays Dr. Peter Blood, an English physician unjustly convicted of treason and sentenced to slavery in the West Indies. Relying on his formidable nerve and wit, he escapes and soon becomes a feared pirate known as Captain Blood, a brilliant swordsman and seaman whose fiercely loyal crew is made up of runaway slaves grateful to him for winning their freedom.
Olivia de Havilland, in the first of eight films starring opposite Flynn, is alluring as Arabella Bishop, the dashing pirate captain's romantic interest. Lionel Atwill, famed for his demented performances in horror films, is satisfyingly despicable as Arabella's uncle, a despotic plantation owner. Director Michael Curtiz (CASABLANCA) pulls no dramatic punches, filling the screen with thrilling battle scenes, stampeding horses, hurtling, wave-tossed ships, and a rousing Erich Wolfgang Korngold score to make CAPTAIN BLOOD a truly lavish seafaring odyssey. Flynn, only five years removed from piloting a daring four-man, seven-month boat trip from Sydney, Australia, to New Guinea (described in his memoir BEAM ENDS), signals with his every joyfully kinetic onscreen moment the full-fledged arrival of a huge, inimitable talent.
This is the story of Dr. Peter Blood, and english surgeon who is sold into slavery in the West Indies after treating the leader of ...

$13.55 Writer-director David Gordon Green obliterates the sophomore slump theory with ALL THE REAL GIRLS, an achingly sincere drama that captures the complexities of first love--and loss--with breathtaking honesty. Paul (Paul Schneider), a small town charmer, has spent his life carousing with his buddies Tip (Shea Whigham), Bo (Maurice Compte), and Bust-Ass (a scene-stealing Danny McBride), in addition to sleeping with every girl in town. But when Tip's virginal younger sister, Noel (Zooey Deschanel), returns from boarding school, Paul's priorities change completely. Discovering love for the first time, Paul spurns his lecherous past and declares himself a new man. No more booze, no more two-timing. But just when he thinks he's found redemption, something happens that shatters him to his core.

| | King Kong DVD (2005) Full Screen
Sea Hawk DVD
$7.39 Despite his origins as a low-budget filmmaker with a taste for the unsavory side of life, Peter Jackson has turned into an "event" filmmaker--someone who can conjure up a movie on a scale unlike anything we've seen before. KING KONG is his sprawling, epic remake of Merian C. Cooper and Ernest B. Schoedsack's 1933 movie of the same name, and it is as big as the gorilla that runs riot through Jackson's rendering of Depression-era New York. Keeping the simple yet effective plot intact--a film crew travels to the mysterious Skull Island, picks up Kong, and brings him back to New York City--Jackson expands on this basic premise by drawing on the jaw-dropping talents of his special effects team to satisfy his thirst for the grand spectacle.
The movie posits Naomi Watts as Ann Darrow, the starry-eyed blonde beauty whom Kong falls for; Jack Black as Carl Denham, a low-rent Orson Welles look-alike who drags the crew to the island to make his movie; and Adrian Brody as Jack Driscoll, a hack playwright who battles Kong both physically and for Darrow's heart. As the men struggle against Kong and the lumbering dinosaurs of Skull Island, Andy Serkis, who made the character of Gollum so believable in the Lord of the Rings trilogy, steps in to form the facial features of the mighty gorilla, lending a real emotional sucker-punch to the scenes between Darrow and Kong. But it's the final third of the movie where Jackson really delivers; his 1930s New York is stunning, and when Kong breaks free from his shackles and stampedes on a lovelorn trek through the city, then iconically climbs the Empire State Building with his sweetheart, it's impossible to not be swept away ...

Realizing that Buck has set a trap for them at the Mojave water tank, the bandits head toward Terrapin Tanks but lose the trail and their horses in a terrible sandstorm. Now on foot, they find the tanks defunct but come upon a lone covered wagon with a woman (Mildred Natwick) about to give birth.
