| | Destiny's Child Destiny Fulfilled CD Destiny's Child Discography of CDs
Destiny's Child has been no stranger to controversy, and with three years of silence and three solo records following 2001's SURVIVOR, one might infer that the act was on the fast track to dissolution. The group's fourth record, 2004's DESTINY FULFILLED, put to rest any such ideas, as the now-solid three-woman lineup of Beyonce Knowles, Kelly Rowland, and Michelle Williams offers up another helping of winsome R&B songs marked by a pop sensibility.
DESTINY FULFILLED opens on an energetic, adventurous note with the speedy drums and vocal acrobatics of "Lose My Breath," followed closely by "Soldier," a hip-hop ode to thugs, featuring T.I. & Lil Wayne. From there, the trio shifts gears to a more traditional R&B album with a slew of ballads, many in an old-school 1970s vein. Destiny's Child finishes the record on a high note with the balanced near-suite of "Through with Love" and "Love," the former quirkily captivating, the latter sweet and breathy. Knowles has been hitting the notes since she was a kid, and after four records with Destiny's Child and one on her own, she can inject sultry beauty into a song in her sleep. Although Knowles gets a bit more of the spotlight, Rowland and Williams also shine on DESTINY FULFILLED, a gratifying pop-laden R&B record.
This Destiny's Child release contains a bonus DVD.

Destiny Fulfilled album
$5.99 The finest example of perfect disco pop, and a record that should be prescribed to musical snobs and manic depressives. The album is a true ambassador of what pop music can be. Jackson whoops and dances through a suite of unforgettable melodies that should ...
| | Melanie Fiona Bridge CD (2009)
Destiny Fulfilled CD music
$9.99 Melanie Fiona's debut single, "Give It to Me Right," was a perfect 2009 pop-R&B recording. The single coupled a timeless classic (the Zombies' "Time of the Season") with roof-raising vocals and infectious pop hooks that stuck like peanut butter. Fiona's single was perfect, albeit a touch formulaic. Because of this, it's no surprise that a large chunk of her debut album, THE BRIDGE, is much of the same. Like any good 2009 pop-soul recording, the album offers influences from decades of soul music. Fiona, a Kanye West protégé, ...

It's always a sign that a group is hot if they release a holiday album mere months after their debut. That's the case with *NSYNC. Their debut was released in America in late March, and in early December, Home for Christmas hit the shelves. Much of the album is devoted to newer material, with only a handful of songs qualifying as standards: ...
| | Chris Brown Graffiti CD (2009)
Destiny Fulfilled songs
$11.18 Most of Graffiti is a natural progression for Chris Brown. Like many young cred-seeking male singers who have just exited their teenage years, Brown emphasizes womanizing and hedonism and balances it out with a couple clean and empty ballads, as well as a couple relatively lighthearted Europop numbers. A handful of songs deal with his relationship with Rihanna, as well as the fallout from his assault of her. ~ Andy Kellman
Most of Graffiti -- that is, the songs that do not detail what ex-girlfriend Rihanna and the rest of the world have done to him -- is a natural progression for Chris Brown. Like many young cred-seeking male singers who have just exited their teenage years, Brown clumsily emphasizes womanizing and hedonism and balances it out with a couple clean and empty ballads. Out of this portion of the album, only a couple songs leave a lasting impression, and when they do, the silly things that come out of Brown's mouth tend to be the reason; take "As stingy as you are, I think you ready," ...

Destiny Fulfilled songs
$14.09 Terry Smith's rare late-'60s LP was an accomplished set that showcased his fluid, modern bop-influenced jazz guitar in both big band and small combo settings. Smith plays much in the style of American guitarists working in similar territory during the period, such as Wes Montgomery and Grant Green. The arrangements and playing by the backing musicians on this album, recorded in London, are a little stiffer than what you'll hear on most U.S. sessions, but they get the job done tastefully enough. The vibe gets a little more uninhibited on the two tracks featuring just Smith, organist Bob Stuckley, and drummer Chris Karen. As those ...
