| | Don Williams All American Country CD Don Williams Discography of CDs
The Best of Don Williams is a solid collection of highlights from the country legend's short stay with RCA Records in the late '80s and early '90s. It takes four songs from 1989's One Good Well, three from 1990's True Love, and three from 1991's Currents. A few of the cuts were hits on the country charts ("Back in My Younger Days" hit number two, "Just as Long as I Have You," "One Good Well," and "True Love" all rose as far as number four), but most of the tracks are simply workmanlike and pleasant pop-country. Anyone looking to find Williams' best work should look for a collection of his earlier work, but this works fine as a sampler of his RCA material for fans who don't want to buy the individual records. ~ Tim Sendra
The ten-track All American Country collection samples hits that Don Williams recorded for RCA in the '90s, including "Lord Have Mercy On a Country Boy," "True Love," "Back in My Younger Days," and "One Good Well," along with a few lesser-known singles. While this is an affordable disc, any compilation that omits the Gentle Giant's ABC or Capitol material should be avoided. Pick up The Don Williams Anthology on Hip-O instead. ~ Al Campbell All American Country Music All American Country Music All American Country Review

| | Caroline Herring Twilight CD (2001)
All American Country songs
$12.19 There's a moment on the third track of Twilight when the listener realizes he or she's listening to something special. "Devil Made a Mess," in fact, has just about everything that the average country hit doesn't: It's tuneful, has a well-crafted lyric, and the singer never overdoes the vocals. Caroline Herring is joined by several great musicians, including steel player Lloyd Maines, fiddler Eamon McLoughlin, and, on several cuts, newgrass luminary Peter Rowan. Whether singing country or folk, Herring seems determined to offer discerning versions of her self-penned material. Her penetrating vocals, deep and rich, deliver the emotional goods on "Standing in the Water" and "Delta Highway." The arrangements and production go a long way toward showing ...

$15.19 Songs written by Dan Gonzalez are portraits of the common people and places that we never quite get around to knowing: the farmer tied to the legacy of the land he tills, the gypsies of southern Spain, or the housewife lost in American suburbia. Each song is part story, part truth, and part speculation delivered from the perspective of a songwriter who wonders, three minutes at a time, what it might be like to be somebody else.Dan got his start playing Paul Simon covers at the campus coffeeshops of Dartmouth College. After a degree in engineering and a few years teaching high school physics, he took a radical ...
| | Sippy Cups Electric Storyland CD (2006)
All American Country songs
$15.19 The Sippy CupsElectric StorylandSomewhere during the course of every Sippy Cups show, there is an epiphany -- a defining moment when a parent looks across a sea of twirling, air-guitaring kinder-rockers, meets the eye of another parent, and raises a pint glass in triumph. It is a moment that says, âDorothy, weâre not in Wiggles-land anymore.ââI love that moment,â says Sippy Cups co-founder and lead vocalist Paul Godwin. âWhen I see dads faces lighting up, nodding in that sort of âyeah, manâ way rock fans in the â70s used to acknowledge one another, I know weâre doing something right.âA typical Sippy Cups show impeccably cool rock music, juggling virtuosity, comical stunts and characters, giant puppets, and plenty of audience participation.Combining a flower power pop-rock sensibility with lyrics that are both sly and wonder-filled, the Cups have managed to accomplish in two short years what few kid-rock bands do in a lifetime: create a sound and a scene that appeals as much to moms and dads as to their offspring. With Electric Storyland, their new CD of original songs and sketches composed by all six band members, the Sippy Cups take âkids musicâ to a whole new level. Set in a circus-like dreamscape, the album transports audiences to a fantasyland of rockets and robots, trains and jellyfish, magic toast and sensitive superheroes.Songs such as âMove Your Pants,â âDrinking from the Sky,â and âSpringtime Fantasticâ become jumping off (and jumping up) points for unexpected musical, visual, and dance-able flights of fancy. âMeet Major Minorâ and âSuperguy Returnsâ introduce the comic characters and plate-spinning antics of juggler extraordinaire Doug Nolan into the mix. âMost kids music is rooted in the Ella Jenkins, Pete Seeger acoustic-guitar-and-a-singer mold,â says Godwin, an early-childhood music teacher who has composed award-winning scores for stage and film. âWeâre part of a new movement of bands that are more in the indie-rock arena. Itâs music for kids that parents would want to go see. We do play libraries and school benefits, but we also play matinees at cool nightclubs.âThe Sippy Cups were born in 2004 at a community fundraiser in a coastal town just south of San Francisco, ...
| | Lammers Gop Party Monsters CD (2008)
All American Country album
$10.15 It's always Bush Bashing Season these days. Wayne Lammers and Pete Levin offer up this hilarious set that carries a deep message. Totally eclectic stylewise, each song gets individual treatment. The set opens with a stirring march performed by a cast of thousands (OK,35 maybe) singing a stirring tribute based on Bush's now infamous "Mission Accomplished" speech. In "Sorry", Rumsfeld jumps on the apologizing bandwagon set in motion by Richard Clarke. Rush Limbaugh sings about the glories of his drug addiction in "My Drugs Are Red, White and Blue". Later in ...
