Closed Captioned; Additional Footage; Soundtrack English; Director's Comments; Dolby Digital 5.1 Re In Ridley Scott's LEGEND, young Jack lives in a magic forest populated with friendly and exotic creatures. But the delicate balance between good and evil is upset when the Lord of Darkness seizes Jack's beloved, Lili, and a horn from one of the last unicorns, thereby gaining control of the universe. The plucky lad must then assemble a band of elves and do battle with the forces of evil to set Lili free and restore peace to the world. Director Ridley Scott's lush fantasy film stars the young Tom Cruise as Jack, a peasant who lives in an enchanted forest with his beloved Lili (Mia Sara). One day, while quietly gamboling in a glade, the pair is distracted by the appearance of trolls, minions of the evil Lord of Darkness (Tim Curry). The cloven-footed, cavern-dwelling monster, long banished to the earth's nether regions, has sent the creatures on a mission to seize the horn of a unicorn, thereby plunging the planet into a frigid darkness over which he alone will reign. Things go from bad to worse as Lili succumbs to the forces of darkness, and Jack must assemble a motley band of elves to free her from bondage and return sunlight to the earth's surface. Sumptous art direction and overwhelming special effects are once again a testament to Scott's powers of visual invention. Theatrical release: April 1986.
Filmed on the James Bond set at Pinewood Studios in England. Production was delayed when the set burned down.
The movie was screened on August 26, 1985, as the opening film of the Venice Film Festival.
LEGEND marked Mia Sara's film debut.
The European version of LEGEND is 20 minutes longer than the 89-minute American cut and features a Jerry Goldsmith score. Legend Reviews: "...Exhilarating visual elements....It is a fairy-tale produced on a grand scale, a classic tale of the struggle between darkness and light, good and evil..."
-- Strat., Variety "...Awesome in its fantasy splendor....It is a sumptuous, richly colored feast for cinematographer Alex Gordon's camera..."

Great Dark Fantasy I truly enjoyed watching both versions of Legend.
This is fantasy at it's best.
Ridley Scott created a dark world with incredible sets and make-up.
If you like fantasy, this is a 'must'.

Legend film
$7.39 First out of the gate with a new band after the English Beat's acrimonious fracture in June 1983, General Public was the first post-punk supergroup, gathering the Beat's Dave Wakeling and Ranking Roger, the Specials' Horace Panter, and other veterans of the U.K. ska revival. (Mick Jones, freshly booted from the Clash, was originally announced as General Public's lead guitarist; although he left the group very early on to start up Big Audio Dynamite and doesn't appear in the album photos, his guitar does appear on nearly all of the album's ten tracks.) Frankly, All the Rage could quite easily have been the fourth English Beat album, as it's a clear continuation from 1982's Special Beat Service. The ska sounds are largely absent, replaced by a mixture of catchy Brit-pop -- someone in the group is clearly a fan of both the Beatles and Elvis Costello & the Attractions -- and occasional reggae influences. The closing track, "General Public," is a sneering putdown of British politics and the attendant old boys network, the most political song the boys had written since the days of "Stand Down Margaret" and one of their most effective reggae tunes ever, with echoes of the threatening throb of '70s classics like Culture's Two Sevens Clash. However, more of the album is along the line of the hit singles "Tenderness" (the biggest U.S. chart hit of any English Beat-related band until Fine Young Cannibals' "She Drives Me Crazy" ...

$13.55 The Force is with us in EPISODE III: REVENGE OF THE SITH, the final chapter of the six-part STAR WARS series, which began a long time ago (1977) in a galaxy far, far away... and is now complete in its cyclical perfection. This visually awe-striking kaleidoscope of interplanetary imagination features the unmatched digital animation and special effects of George Lucas's Industrial Light and Magic. With pink and orange skies casting a golden sheen over magnificent landscapes through which space ships dart and light sabers flash, the spectacle of the film, while hypnotizing, is but a complement to the intense, crucial plot.

| | 3:10 To Yuma DVD (2007) Widescreen
Legend video
$14.59 Based on the Elmore Leonard story, 3:10 TO YUMA is a riveting remake of the 1957 classic Western. It's the story of Dan Evans (Christian Bale), a down-and-out rancher who lost his leg in the Civil War. With a wife and two sons, he is struggling to put food on the table, and unable to make payments on his land. When the notorious gunman Ben Wade (Russell Crowe) is apprehended nearby, a few local men are needed to escort him to the town of Contention so he can be put on the 3:10 train to Yuma Prison. Few will volunteer for the job, as they know that Wade's ruthless gang will follow them, but Evans sees an opportunity to make some fast cash, and offers to go in exchange for $200. The small team of men set off, and are later joined by Evans's young son William (Logan Lerman), who has run away from home to join them. What follows is a race against time, as the group tries to get to Yuma without the clever and dangerous Wade outsmarting them.
Crowe is fantastic as the smooth-talking gunman, and Bale delivers a moving performance as the weary-eyed Evans. The two men are perfect foils for each other. Wade is the infamous gunman, living the high life on the wrong side of the law, while Evans, who has struggled to lead an honest life, has only faced one hardship after another. It is a classic tale of good vs. evil, right vs. wrong, and yet, by the story's ...

| | Snow Dogs DVD (2002)
Legend review
$10.29 Director Brian Levant (BEETHOVEN) goes to the dogs again in Disney's SNOW DOGS. Cuba Gooding, Jr. stars as Ted Brooks, a successful Miami dentist who finds out that he was adopted, and has to travel to Alaska for the reading of his birth mother's will. There, he meets the small community of crazies that were his mother's friends. Barb (Joanna Bacalso), a beautiful bar owner, is the most welcoming. Ted learns that he has inherited his mother's property, including her team of rambunctious sled dogs. A crusty old-timer, Thunder Jack (James Coburn), tries to buy the dogs, but Ted decides he will learn how to race a dogsled, and enter the Arctic Challenge, a local race. Handling the mischievous pooches, particularly the "alpha" dog, Demon, turns out to be much harder than expected. Levant keeps the action moving at a swift pace, particularly during Ted's hilariously disastrous first run with the dogs. Gooding clowns like a pro, and Coburn is wonderful as the grizzled dogsled veteran. Kids will fall in love with all the dogs, who are given animated facial expressions. Nichelle Nichols (of STAR TREK fame) plays Ted's mom, and pop star Sisqo ...
