Somewhere between the Fresh Prince TV-show persona and the 20-million-dollar movie paydays, the notion of Will Smith as a credible rapper was lost. However, from the days of HE'S THE D.J., I'M THE RAPPER, Smith's rhymes, while easily digestible, have always been substantive. On LOST AND FOUND, Smith's comic aim is still true, but he also takes on darker themes.
Here Smith isn't spouting opinions because he's been told he should have some; he passionately feels every word, and carefully explores his feelings. On "Mr. Niceguy," he pokes fun at his easygoing persona, noting that "sometimes y'all mistake nice for soft," before effortlessly eviscerating everyone who's taken a shot at Big Willy. "Ms. Holy Roller" brilliantly takes apart a self-righteous born-again friend, as Smith, a devout Christian, questions the need of some to force their religion down others' throats. The defining track of LOST AND FOUND comes on "Tell Me Why," a song set on the evening of 9/11/01. On this track, tears are streaming down his son's face, and Smith is at a loss to explain the unbelievably tragic and painful situation; it's a stirring, honest moment, told with grace and wisdom typical of the whole album.
Contains an untitled hidden track on track #16.

Me like probably alot of other rap-fans wouldn't normally be comfortable with saying that they are fans of WILL SMITH's rapping.
He's not exactly the guy who people consider to "keep it real", even though he IS always keeping it real talking about down to earth stuff, but you know what I mean.
I own all of his solo albums and have enjoyed listening to them in the background not really paying to much mind of the lyrics.
BUT THIS ALBUM blew me away, Will is really on some REAL HIPHOP-lyricism and he takes a few shots at EMINEM and other rappers claiming he's SOFT on for instance the GREAT "MR NICE GUY".
He speaks on different topics such as 9/11: "Why?" and just good old party-starter-anthems that only WILL SMITH and LL COOL J can make.
THIS ALBUM IS CRAZY OFF THE HOOK, THE ENERGY LEVEL IS HIGH AND ALTHOUGH THERE ARE SOME R&B GUESTS HERE AND THERE I WOULD CONSIDER THIS A RAP-ALBUM, AND FINALLY I'M OKAY WITH SAYING THAT I'm A WILL SMITH-FAN! Submitted by Dan (Sweden) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 1 of 1 found this helpful.
Typical Will He had a lot hot beats, and the rhymes were cool. Didn't blow me away, but I have always liked Will's unique style and fun presentation of the day to day situation. Submitted by lamont.king (Indianapolis IN) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

| | Sonia DF05: Live CD (2005)
Lost And Found
$13.05 Sonia Rutstein resurrects her band Disappear Fear as a trio on this collection of acoustic live performances, compiled from 2005 performances at various venues across America. Rutstein is an accomplished performer, with an easy command of styles that include politically committed folk-based material, breezy reggae, blues, and rock & roll.
Recorded during the summer of 2005, DFO5 LiVE captures the spark of SONiA's introspective and insightful lyrical gifts through the light of her new bandmates and showcases the trio's precise and unwavering attention to grooving with seasoned and new audiences while spreading a message of love without fear in a way that is much more shared experience than preachy. Seamlessly weaving seventeen live tracks, recorded at mega festivals and intimate listening rooms across the United States, while staying close to the original 'disappear fear' sound, was no easy feat. Yet SONiA, on lead vocals, guitar, and piano, Laura Cerulli ("JAH") on percussion and vocal harmonies, and Angela Edge ("Oxygen") on trumpet and bass, were up to the task. The result is uncompromised and pure, feminine yet hard, with a sound reminiscent of the earliest days of 'disappear fear.' Their beloved sound is part intelligent folk singersongwriter, part sweaty rock-and-roll and part whimsical pop; and through tireless touring, SONiA, and every incarnation of 'disappear fear' that ever was, continues to win fans across the political spectrum, despite the leftist leanings of its members. Unleashed ...
