Personnel: Jack DeJohnette (keyboards, bells). Jack DeJohnette has long been known as one of the most exciting and consistently stimulating drummers in jazz, one who always pushes ahead. Well, forget that musical description of DeJohnette, at least for this CD. DeJohnette is heard on a keyboard and, near the piece's conclusion, resonating bells, performing what is accurately described as "music for meditating, relaxation and healing." He has a droning tone going throughout this endless improvisation while his right hand plays long notes and brief, aimless melodies. One waits in vain for something -- anything -- interesting to occur, but it never does. To be fair, this is meant to be background music for one's deep thoughts. But after listening to this monotonous recital straight through, one will need a different form of "healing" music to recover from the mood that it casts! Even for new age music, this is incredibly dull. ~ Scott Yanow Music In The Key Of Om Music Jack DeJohnette Music In The Key Of Om Songs

A new Yes box is like a new Star Trek film. Yes have always seemed more of an industry than a band, so it comes as no surprise that their deeply rooted ...

However, as word spread, the title became an essential addition to his discography. Fact is that ...
| | Jack DeJohnette Music From The Hearts Of The Masters CD (2005)
Music In The Key Of Om
$13.39 Personnel: Jack DeJohnette (drums); Foday Musa Suso (kora). When Foday Musa Suso teamed with drummer Hamid Drake in the `80s to form the Mandingo Griot Society, the usage of kora and the American drum kit was a novelty, and successfully but precariously placed the traditions of African village music and jazz oriented polyrhythms in a new place. Suso and the veteran drummer Jack DeJohnette team up in duets that do not juxtapose, but complement the rhythmic strengths of the different instruments, creating a ...
