(11 Customer Reviews)
This is a DualDisc, which contains a CD on one side of the disc and a DVD on the other.
Following the release of its 1999 debut, POINT #1, Chevelle acquired a more sophisticated sound that can be traced through contributions made to the DAREDEVIL and PUNISHER soundtracks, right up through the metal band's third album, 2004's THIS TYPE OF THINKING (COULD DO US IN). With Peter Chevelle (AKA Loeffler)'s choppy, sinister guitar tones and howling vocals, Chevelle sounds like a distant relative of the Tool/A Perfect Circle family. Throw in the plodding rhythms supplied by his bass-playing brother Joe and their skin-bashing sib Sam, and you have a brooding batch of songs that veers from the moody "The Clincher" and its excellent use of dynamics to the primarily acoustic, but no less compelling, "Bend the Bracket." Not surprisingly, Chevelle has a penchant for writing about some of life's darker subjects, ranging from those struggling to avoid conformity (the relentlessly pounding "Breach Birth") to those who willing embrace it through TV shows like AMERICAN IDOL (a swirling "Get Some"). With THIS TYPE OF THINKING, Chevelle continues to be the standard-bearer of nu metal.
This Dualdisc includes the entire Gold album with behind-the-scenes interviews with the band members and inside look at the band in the studio.
Chevelle: Peter Chevelle (vocals, guitar); Joseph Chevelle (bass guitar); Samuel Chevelle (drums). Although I really enjoy the video interviews and the bonus audio track, I mainly was interested in the 5.1 mix of the whole ablum. I am not quite sure why, but the 5.1 mix was done poorly. Almost as if it were rushed, instead of fine tuned. The mix is plagued by over emphasis of the surround effect. But mainly what is beyond annoying are the constant volume changes throughout the disc. I thought at first my receiver had been out of adjustment. But I dropped a couple other 5.1 dual discs in my dvd player and they sounded fine. If you are looking for a better sounding two channel stereo mix of the album, then this disc is def worth that. If your intention is a great 5.1 mix, you could stand to be disappointed. I am a huge Chevelle fan, but this dual disc is just an embarrassment for them.

Awesome Album Absolutely awesome cd. In my opinion, their best cd. Several awesome songs like panic prone, get some, tug of war, bend the bracket, vitamin R, and the clincher, im a little iffy on the others but they are still pretty good. If you love chevelle you'll for sure love this cd. Submitted by Ty (Layton, UT, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Raw, Heavy, Powerful Chevelle holds nothing back in their take no prisoners style music. Its full of passion and intensity, a combination that is perfect for a metal band. I think its wicked cool that a trio of brothers got together and formed a killer band that can put out excellent CD's. This album is just as good, if not better, than "Wonder Whats Next". Both CD's are a must buy. My favorite songs are: The Clincher, Get Some, Vitamin R, Tug O War, and the best is probably Emotional Drought. Fantastic!!! Yet another amazing release from an amazing band.
The Clincher, Get Some and and Vitimin R are three of Chevelles best songs.
All in all, this album is just as good as any of Chevelles other work - well worth the purchase. Submitted by lasthidingplace (North Wales, UK.) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Originally recorded in 1961, this tribute program features two of the best tenor saxophonists of the period along with pianist Junior Mance and a rhythm section composed of bassist Larry Gales and drummer Ben Riley (both of whom would later work as Thelonious Monk sidemen). If the program seems a bit obvious ("'Round Midnight," "Epistrophy," "Well, You Needn't," etc.), bear in ...
| | Beatles Magical Mystery Tour CD (1967)
This Type Of Thinking (Could Do Us In)
$15.99 The first six songs on MAGICAL MYSTERY TOUR were the soundtrack to the Beatles' TV movie of the same name. The film was an experimental mess, but the experimental pop of the album included some of their most memorable productions. The soundtrack side was dominated by Paul McCartney pop tunes, including the bittersweet piano ballad "Fool On The Hill" and "Your Mother Should Know," an impossibly catchy bit of Vaudevillian pop. But it also featured George Harrison's mystical "Blue Jay Way" (about his house in Hollywood) and John Lennon's "I Am The Walrus," which wedded a stream-of-consciousness lyric to a fierce drum beat, layers of strings, odd voices and some dialogue from Shakespeare's ...
