Big Red One video The addition of the extra minutes, scenes makes this movie much better than the theatrical release. Lee Marvin adds to the quality of the movie.

Big Red One film I bought this movie in way to show war horror to my grandsons and granddaughters, also the bravour and cowardice who sleeps inside each man.

| My best war film
Big Red One review Not to many words here, just one of the best war films ever made. Saving private Ryan might of had a great start, but this is the real deal and explains the battle itself. One of the best ever, from one of the most underated directors.

| Ok Ok - good but not GRREAT
Big Red One DVD for sale Saw this flick when just a teenager and was very impressed by it. Almost 20 years later i will say it is a good war movie but to rate it with 5 stars with thes classics in mind is not serious: Guns of Navarone, Eagle has landed, Platoon, etc. Still the performances is what keeps this film flowing and not what actually happens.

"The real glory of war," Samuel Fuller said, "is surviving." A decorated combatant with the famed U.S. First Infantry in WWII, Fuller survived. His 1980 film version of his war experiences did not until now. Working with 70,000 feet of vault materials and Fuller's shooting script, critic/filmmaker Richard Schickel heads a reconstruction that adds over 40 minutes and transforms a truncated but admired war film into an epic masterwork. Lee Marvin, in a richly layered performance now revealed as one of his finest, stars as the sergeant of peach-fuzzed riflemen fighting from North Africa to Normandy and across Europe. The film is the squad's combat diary, war as it's fought and sweated and bled, and, maybe, survived.
