Closed Captioned; Standard Screen; Soundtrack English; English Subtitles An action-packed drama about the battle that brought World War II to a close in Europe. It tells a tense tale of the complicated events leading up to that historical confrontation -- and presents us with a group of strong-willed, highly individual military men who play key roles in the shaping of their country's destiny. Foremost among them is Kiley, an American lieutenant colonel who must overcome his fellow officer's high-handed skepticism to convince him that the supposedly defeated Germans are poised to strike. This World War II spectacular tells the story of the tank battles of December, 1944, in which the Nazi Panzer forces staged a massive last-ditch offensive on the Belgian front. Produced in association with United States Pictures Inc.

Good but not great A good movie but with some historic flaws. Good acting though with many major stars. You can't get much better than Charles Bronson. Submitted by Roger (Missouri) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Fully resotred? I saw this film in a theater during its debut 40 years ago, then several times after that in other movie theaters. To my dismay, I noticed that it had suffered drastic cuts, either by the theater owners themselves or by the production company that released it. Whole scenes were inexplicably chopped out. At one showing, Charles Bronson never even appeared in the film! Is this newly released DVD the fully restored version of the film, or yet another hatchet job? Anybody know? Good WW2 movie Typical Hollywood WW2 movie.Good enough to watch but not historicaly accurate. Submitted by jvlip3 (Milford,CT,USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Disappointing I knew film was not historically accurate, but Russian T-34 tanks are nowhere near Tiger tanks. Several scenes are too easily seen to be pasteovers of a previously filmed background, and little things, like a steam train hauling cannon to the front, with sudden switch to a view racing forward along a curved track (this was Cinerama after all)with overhead wires for electric locomotive. Hard to take seriously. Submitted by rawalkr (Bedford, MA, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 0 of 1 found this helpful.

$10.29 It's spring 1941, and Great Britain is the only country in Europe yet to be defeated by the Nazi army, but all of that could change soon. The Nazis have launched their juggernaut battleship, the Bismarck, to close off British supply lines and ultimately invade England. A counterstrike is ordered, and with an arsenal of ships at their command, Royal Intelligence officers Jonathan Shepard (Kenneth More) and Anne Davis (Dana Wynter) fight desperately to destroy the Bismarck. Director Lewis Gilbert delivers a heartfelt docudrama about the courageous men and women of the British navy. Featuring actual war footage and a roller-coaster plot, the film is an unforgettable document of world history.

$16.35 Richard Burton stars as Major John Smith, a British agent during WWII who is in charge a group of six Allied soldiers given the task of rescuing an American general--who is reportedly in possession of the plans for D-Day--from a seemingly impregnable German fortress located high in the Bavarian Alps. Assisting Smith is the sole American in the operative, Lieutenant Morris Schaffer (Clint Eastwood), a fierce soldier skilled with an array of deadly weapons. As the men penetrate the fortress, facing an endless supply of German soldiers, it becomes apparent that some members of the small Allied team may not be who them seem to be. Full of thrilling action set pieces, the screenplay was written by Alistair MacLean, adapted from his own best selling novel.
Commandos, posing as German soldiers, parachute into a city to rescue a supposed allied general from a Nazi hideaway fortress that can only be reached by cable car

$9.69 In Mike Nichols's hilarious remake of the 1978 French comedy LA CAGE AUX FOLLES, Robin Williams stars as Armand Goldman, a gay cabaret owner who lives in Miami's South Beach with his partner, Albert (Nathan Lane), the club's star performer. Armand and Albert must try in vain to pass as a typical couple when the prospective in-laws of Armand's son, Val (Dan Futterman), come for dinner. While accepting their alternative lifestyle personally, Val demands that they tone it down for his girlfriend's (Calista Flockhart) parents--who happen to be a political couple running on a family values platform. Lane's hilarious attempts to "play it straight" and Hank Azaria's brilliantly flamboyant houseboy, Agador, are the highlights of the film, which also features a beautifully understated Williams as the more "normal" of the pair. Gene Hackman and Dianne Wiest are delightfully square as the future in-laws.

Battle Of The Bulge review
$14.39 Shortly after the bombing on Pearl Harbor, the American military began preparation for a retaliatory attack. The story of that mission is presented in THIRTY SECONDS OVER TOKYO, based on the memoirs of Captain Ted Lawson, who flew one of the 16 twin-engine bombers over Tokyo. Spencer Tracy plays Colonel Jimmy Doolittle, the leader of the mission, while VAN JOHNSON plays the leading role of Captain Ted Lawson, whose bomber also carries star Robert Mitchum. A variety of factors makes the mission exceptionally dangerous: Twin-engine bombers had never taken off from an aircraft carrier previously; the bombers needed to fly in low, pretending to be Japanese aircraft; and the oversize bombers couldn't return to the aircraft carrier, so the intended landing site was behind enemy lines in China. With its almost documentary-style approach, THIRTY SECONDS OVER TOKYO is perhaps the finest film about World War II made during the war itself.
The daring Doolittle Raid! U.S. airmen strike the heart of the enemy in a bold mission that boosted morale in the war's bleak, early days. Spencer Tracy, Van Johnson and Robert Mitchum star. Academy Award winner for Best Special Effects (1944).

In 2007, students and faculty from Fordham Law School's Leitner Center for International Law and Justice traveled to the African country to interview people about the difficulty that HIV/AIDS causes in the lives of those with the disease. THE FEMALE FACE OF AIDS: CRISIS IN MALAWI examines the plight of these women, including abuse, prostitution, and a lack of financial freedom.
