After recording two volumes of "Buddha Sounds" (volume two received the Gardel Award in Argentina for Best Electronic Album), the renowned producer Seoan presents "Chill In India". This is an album that not only recovers the spirit of "Buddha Sounds", but also includes the participation of the cream of PMB's artists. In doing so, people such as No oN, Rhod, Ronan Portela, Index, Dual Sessions, Debaires and Sandy Parker got together to contribute their talents to make, along with Seoan's own compositions, an enigmatic piece that transforms into an oneiric journey to the East, where the electronic relaxation of downtempo combines with deep Hindu sounds.
Mixing the ancient with the ultramodern, producer Seoan assembles a compilation that offers mellow electronica melded with Hindu music. CHILL IN: INDIA includes tracks by Lila Liu, Oman Chali, and Sandy Parker, among others.

Chill In: India album
$15.95 This is a continuous in-the-mix CD compiled and mixed by DJ David Waxman.
Despite the rather unfortunate title, Ultra Chilled, Vol. 1 assembles some of the most established names in down-tempo electronica and trip-hop, mixing them with some relative unknowns. The flow from Dido to Gorillaz to St. Germain to Morcheeba is deceptively smooth, as is what will be most listeners' introductions to acts like Zero 7 and Goldfrapp, with each song seamlessly blending into one another. The sequencing on the two-disc set is a little predictable, with many of the better-known artists grouped near the front of each disc, but little glimmers of familiarity (like Alex Gopher's "The Child" on disc two or the impeccable inclusion of Badly Drawn Boy's "The Shining" on the first disc) near the ends frame the collection ...
| | Global Underground: Locations CD (2002)
Chill In: India CD music
$13.85 Constructing a mix album out of others' mix albums is a baffling proposition, but Global Underground: Locations does just that. Mixed by the series' own the Forth (previously responsible for Global Underground: Arrivals and Global Underground: Departures), this one also grabs tracks from past editions (devoted to Lee Burridge, John Digweed, Deep Dish, Darren Emerson) with no rhyme and no reason why these tracks couldn't have been taken from the original sources. At least the Forth steers away from high-gloss ...

Chill In: India music CDs
$16.59 The blueprint for Ultra Chilled, Vol. 2 is the same as the solid first edition in Ultra's downbeat series -- which rose above the heap of substandard, commercialized chill-out compilations -- with compilers balancing a few downtempo tracks by a varying cast of vocal artists (Coldplay, the Specials, Black Box Recorder, Nelly Furtado, Bebel Gilberto, Radiohead) with electronica specialists (here, usual suspects like Boards of Canada, Groove Armada, Thievery Corporation, Tosca, Fila Brazillia, and Röyksopp). ~ John Bush
Fans eager for a successor to the solid first edition in Ultra's downbeat series -- which rose above the heap of substandard, commercialized chill-out compilations -- will likely be ...

Chill In: India CD music
$15.15 Knowing how to strike while the iron is hot, the international all-male pop-opera revue Il Divo, assembled by AMERICAN IDOL's Simon Cowell, followed up its 2005 debut (and subsequent Christmas album) with yet another outing in early 2006. Here the dashing vocal quartet--Urs Buhler (Switzerland), Sebastien Izambard (France), Carlos Marin (Spain), and David Miller (U.S.)--stays true to its multi-lingual repertoire, offering up a suitably dramatic Spanish version of Eric Carmen's "All By Myself" ("Solo Otra Vez") and an English/French rendition of "I Believe in You" (with Celine Dion), among other numbers. While the arrangements on ANCORA are lush and majestic, they never overshadow ...

Chill In: India music CDs
$14.55 Spock's Beard return to the music stores with their first record since Light in June 2004. The first seven tracks of this album comprise a conceptual suite entitled "A Flash Before My Eyes," based on a story by John Boegehold. It's about the experiences of a man in the process of experiencing a car wreck as it happens and watching his life flash before him as it passes out of him. He recalls everything from his parents' separation on Christmas, to high school football games and meeting his wife and creating a life with her. It all ends at the end of the flash. The overture, "Prelude to the Past," is all big prog symphonic rock Former frontman and guitarist Neal Morse's gigantic presence is still missed, but the ambition here is sweeping. Nonetheless, drummer and frontman Nick D'Virgilio is putting forth the effort and he has a compelling presence as a singer, but his lyrics aren't yet there, they still tell more than show. The contrast between Boegehold's narrative passages and the song lyrics that illustrate them is harsh. The music, while more "accessible" than in the past and harder in its rock-ist intentions, still has plenty of flair and verve, though one does miss the wonderfully labyrinthine passages and surprises of yore. ~ Thom Jurek

| | Neil Young Chrome Dreams II CD (2007) With DVD
Chill In: India songs
$20.25 Intended by Neil Young as a follow-up to his near-mythic unreleased 1977 recording CHROME DREAMS, the 2007 album CHROME DREAMS II features the same basic band and approach. Unlike many of Young's more conceptual albums, it contains songs written over different periods of time in different stylistic modes. Some of the tunes here have been waiting around since the '80s, including the 18-minute epic "Ordinary People," a slow-burner in the classic Young tradition that he audaciously positioned as the album's single.
Arranged around that sprawling centerpiece are some humbly poignant folk-rock gems, including the pretty, acoustic-based ballad "Beautiful Bluebird" and the shimmering, waltz-time love song "Shining Light." On the harder side, there's the trademark Crazy Horse-style crunch and quirk of the chugging rocker "Dirty Old Man" and the "Down By The River"-esque workout "No Hidden Path." Ironically, by attempting to follow no single sonic template ...
| | Travellers East Bound CD (2009) (Import)
Chill In: India album
$18.55 The Travellers were formed in 1998. Their distinctive sound consists of a special style of dance music, in which the foundation is based on the American roots music with their own sensibility. It creates a feeling of nostalgia, and its output is definitely an attractive new sound. The band's first recording, "TRAVELLERS", was released in 1998. In 1999, they released the album, "GOD SPEED", followed by their first West Coast tour in the U.S. and also in London. In 2000, the Travellers released 2 albums, "JUMP & ROLL" and "THE TRAVELLERS". In 2002, they released their first live album "Jumpin' at N.Y." which was recorded live in New York. In 2003, the band appeared in a movie film called "Rockers". Their famous ...
