Burt Lancaster delivers one of the finest performances of his career as a hard-boiled major in command of a Vietnam outpost. A classic of wartime confrontation. An less-well-known Vietnam War picture with an interesting point of view formed while memories of the war were still fresh. Lancaster plays a tough U.S. military advisor in 1964 assigned to the abandoned French outpost of Muc Wa, where he must assemble a platoon out of inexperienced American soldiers and hardened Vietnamese mercenaries. As he the conditions at first hand, his doubts about the U.S. involvement grow. Go Tell The Spartans Reviews: "...[The actors] all turn in fine performances which represent a cross-section of the kind of soldiers who fought [the] war..."

Go Tell The Spartans Movie Review Average Rating: (4 out of 5 stars) A good verging on great Vietnam war movie An excellent, tell it like it was, movie about Vietnam when only lifers were there as advisers. BEFORE escalation, before the big buildup, before the newer tech (no M-16 or Huey's), before draftees were sent there and before it hit the US political radar. Super movie, great acting, with a balanced viewpoint. Submitted by markfdavidson (Michigan) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Probably the best Viet Nam movie made This is probably the best movie about the Viet Nam War made to date. Brings up virtually everything we did wrong in the war. Set before our big build up, nevertheless all the negatives are in place or getting in place. Favortism by U.S. Forces for U.S. forces at cost of native troops, over reliance on technology. Industry of war vs men, the feeling that something is wrong w/ this war etc, etc. Superbly acted by whole cast. It's low budget, but as the whole thing takes place on such a low level it doesn't need them. It's about a small units inability to hold a position due to overwhelming opposing manpower and how the men of the unit react to the situation, then the order to evacuate the Americans come thru . . . $7.79 Director McG returns from the original movie, this time upping the action ante with a series of spectacular stunts and CGI-assisted tricks. Employing a neverending array of celebrity cameo appearances, McG builds on the momentum of the previous movie and neatly balances the combination of comedy set pieces and action sequences. Cast and crew keep their tongues planted firmly in their cheeks throughout, leading to a not-too-serious romp that is a feast for the eyes.

$15.45 Based on a novel by his wife Margaret Mazzantini, actor-turned-director Sergio Castellitto's DON'T MOVE is a strikingly accomplished drama that features an unforgettable performance by Penelope Cruz. Successful doctor Timoteo (Castellitto) is shocked to discover that his fifteen-year-old daughter has been in a life-threatening motorcycle accident. As a fellow surgeon performs a dangerous procedure on her brain, Timoteo recalls a passionate affair he had before his daughter was born. He met the woman, Italia (Cruz), when his car broke down on the outskirts of the city. After an initial first encounter that resulted in Timoteo's brutally raping the hapless Italia, he found himself shunning his beautiful wife Elsa (Claudia Gerini) and returning to visit Italia more and more frequently. What began as a dark, shameful outlet for his disgust with his bourgeois existence grew to become ...
