Music For The Lost album
$10.45 Lost in legal limbo since 1995 when it was originally recorded for Rick Rubin's American Recordings label, former Skinny Puppy frontman Nivek Ogre, in conjunction with producer/programmer Mark Walk, mix techno with modern rock, resulting in the group ohGr and this CD, Welt. A voice sounding like Pete Shelley of the Buzzcocks in some mad amalgam of Kraftwerk and Black Sabbath, Welt is abrasive, gruff, melodic, and dark. Opening with the trancey, dancey "Water," the industrial leanings of this duo are evident from the outset. On first listen the album blurs from one tune to the next, but after repeated spins, each song's identity becomes clearer. It is the nature of electronic music to confuse the senses -- Lou Reed's Metal Machine Music, released on CD by Buddah, is perhaps the best example of that, and though Welt is certainly more cohesive ...

| | Razed In Black Damaged CDs (2003)
Music For The Lost music CDs
$13.85 Although the band is beloved of goth kids and darkwave aficionados, Razed in Black has always been more complex than that; the group has been featured on electro-clash, neo-goth and disco/techno compilations, and its new album includes stylistic shout-outs to everyone from Depeche Mode (on the lovely "Come Back to Me") to, well, Metallica (the very crunchy "Am I 2 Blame?"). ...
| | KMFDM Wwiii CD (2003)
Music For The Lost songs
$12.05 The most frustrating thing about WWIII is that it's so darn inconsistent. Kicking off with the Atari Teenage Riot-sounding and George Bush Jr.-sampling title track, WWIII sounds like it's going to be an inspired affair. The Bush-led Iraqi war has given KMFDM plenty of fuel for their disdain toward America circa 2003, so listeners with differing views will find little to like about the lyrics. On the fierce "Jihad," the band paints the human race as "a dying species" that is "poor sick dumb numb feeding on feces." Lucia Cifarelli's vocal and songwriting contributions are excellent (the forgettable tracks don't feature her writing), and her near-pop "From Here on Out" ends up as the highlight of the album. The nihilism keeps up until the silly ...
| | Nightwish Century Child CD (2002)
Music For The Lost album
$14.05 2003 album from the female fronted Finnish symphonic goth/metal super group. 10 tracks including, 'Bless The Child', 'End Of All Hope' & 'Dead To The World'. Century Media.
Possibly the biggest success story in the history of Finnish heavy metal, Nightwish celebrated their second chart-topping album in their homeland with 2002's Century Child, which eventually collected numerous awards and went double platinum (60,000 units in Finland) within a year of release. The group's fourth LP overall, Century Child wisely repeated its predecessors' ...

Music For The Lost songs
$16.05 Several years before they took pains to summarize their near-legendary career with 2006's balanced and concise When All Is Said collection, Swedish death metal icons Edge of Sanity unselfishly dug out and exposed their darkest entrails through 1999's Evolution -- a double-disc, odds & sods compilation, mixing remixed album cuts with rare demos and a slew of entertaining covers. And by taking a chronological approach with its generous 24 tracks, this release certainly lives up to its title, as it traces the Dan Swano-led group's often unbelievable maturation process, out of the basest death metal savagery (never more vile than the demo of first-ever composition, "Pernicious Anguish") until achieving the apex of melodic accessibility and compositional sophistication that was still recognizable ...
