The Very Best Of
$7.09 While the 2000 edition of this classic Johnny Cash performance, AT SAN QUENTIN (THE COMPLETE 1969 CONCERT), led listeners to believe that it presented the show in its entirety, this comprehensive two-CD/one-DVD reissue set proves that notion to be not quite true. Boasting a total of 31 tracks, the audio discs feature all of the songs from SAN QUENTIN's previous incarnations, most notably the country icon's definitive reading of the witty Shel Silverstein tune "A Boy Named Sue," but it also makes room for additional Cash numbers, including the fierce "Blistered," and tunes by other members of Cash's traveling show, such as Carl Perkins ...
| | Allman Brothers Band Idlewild South CD (1970) Remastered
The Very Best Of
$6.85 If you're going to listen to the Allman Brothers, make sure you have the first four records. THE ALLMAN BROTHERS BAND, IDLEWILD SOUTH, LIVE AT FILLMORE EAST, and EAT A PEACH are the albums the band made with their original lineup, before Duane Allman's fatal motorcycle accident in 1971. IDLEWILD SOUTH, their second album, comes off with a little less ferocity than their debut--which is perhaps the result of reaching for new sounds the second time around. "Revival," the ...

| | Peter Bjorn & John Writer's Block CD (2006)
The Very Best Of
$9.89 The Stockholm trio of Peter Moren, Bjorn Yttling, and John Eriksson scored a European hit with their delightfully amateurish "Young Folks" single, included here complete with whistling and bongos. The rest of their second album, a fully realized fusion of intelligent songwriting and innovative production, is equally enchanting. Moren's "Objects Of My Affection" combines the rhythm, soul, and self-analysis of a RUBBER SOUL-era John Lennon composition with the atmosphere and melodic distortion of My Bloody Valentine, and Eriksson's "Up Against The Wall" evokes Blur's early Syd Barrett-influenced songs.

The Very Best Of
$15.65 This is a Limited Editon 2 CD set with exclusive bonus 4 track CD.
Although SAY YOU WILL is Fleetwood Mac's first album without longtime singer/songwriter/keyboardist Christine McVie as a full participant (she appears only as a guest musician), the album nevertheless harks back to the frothy sound of 1982's MIRAGE, if not the '70s L.A. studio-pop glory of RUMOURS. Singer/guitarist Lindsay Buckingham's production still boasts pleasing quirks aplenty ("Red Rover," "Murrow Turning Over in His Grave"), and his trademark acoustic fingerpicking licks underpin many of the tunes in a winning way. Buckingham and Stevie Nicks share the songwriting duties, and their writing and singing styles still mesh as well as they did in their pre-Mac days as Buckingham /Nicks. SAY YOU WILL manages to sound fresh without resorting to anything as embarrassing as grafting hip-hop rhythms or electronica effects onto the group's classic pop tunes, and though it all sounds far from dated, you probably wouldn't blink twice if told this was the lost, unreleased follow-up to MIRAGE.

| | Steve Vai Anthology CDs (2003)
The Very Best Of
$15.95 This 2003 two-disc set offers up a generous sampling of Steve Vai tracks, focusing most sharply on the revered hard-rock guitarist's mid-to-late-1990s material. Highlights of the collection include "The Animal," a stomping metal number, and the emotive "For the Love of God," as well as the dynamic "Fire Garden Suite." While diehard Vai fans will likely own most songs on this compilation, ANTHOLOGY serves as a commendable, if slightly daunting, introduction to the ...
