Vicious White Kids Live album
$11.18 With Adam Lambert, American Idol finally got a finalist who was completely, utterly contemporary, aware of what's hip in music and culture and aware of how music is made and consumed in 2009, never seeming to try to follow fads or set trends, just embodying the time. Mercifully, he came in second to Kris Allen, for if he came in first he may have had to tame his self-styled glamazon ways. A second place finish allowed Lambert to come out of the closet and indulge in his penchant for theater on his debut, For Your Entertainment -- which isn't quite the same thing as camp, for if Adam Lambert is anything, he's earnest about his dress-up, never winking at the audience because he doesn't think there's much funny about his glitter and mascara: that's just what pop stars are supposed to do. He's learned that by listening to his stacks of Queen and Bowie records, from watching old MTV videos on YouTube, from living in a present that always competes with the ever-present past, so he takes it all at face value, mixing up arena rock guitars, new wave, disco, operatic overdubs with a constant electro pulse, glassy modern R&B, and the vague ...

Vicious White Kids Live CD music
$10.49 This is a multi-channel Super Aduio CD playable only on Super Audio CD players.
EVERYBODY'S GOT A STORY is the third release from distinctive Canadian songstress Amanda Marshall. The album includes the songs "Voice Inside," "Double Agent," and "Brand New Beau."
Canadian singer/songwriter Amanda Marshall is concerned about the difference between appearance and reality on her third album, Everybody's Got a Story. On the title track, a tired pickup line inspires her to think about what people are really like, as opposed to what they seem to be at first. "Don't assume everything on the surface is what you see," she warns, and then goes on to expand on that theme in the rest of the album's story songs. That might make the collection sound somewhat preachy, but it's apparent as early as that first song that she is talking as much to herself as she is to anyone else. On "Double Agent," she reflects on her mixed heritage; appearing to be white, she is actually a mulatto with a Trinidadian mother and is made uncomfortable ...

| | Freakwater Dancing Under Water CD (1991)
Vicious White Kids Live songs
$12.95 Dancing Under Water, Freakwater's first long-player, is insurgent country music for people who believe that the film Deliverance says more about the true nature of rural folks than it does about the fears and prejudices of city dwellers. The songs, just under half of which are original, fixate on the folk traditions of murder ballads and "dead child" songs, performed simply with ragged duet harmonies in a modern approximation of the Carter Family. The ...
| | Gordon Goodwin Phat Pack CD (2006) With DVD
Vicious White Kids Live album
$14.39 Gordon Goodwin's Big Phat Band: Grant Geissman (guitar); Eric Marienthal (flute, soprano saxophone, alto saxophone); Brian Scanlon (clarinet, tenor saxophone); Gordon Goodwin (tenor saxophone, piano); Dan Savant, Wayne Bergeron, Bob Summers (trumpet); Andy Martin, Alexander Iles, Craig Ware (trombone); Rick Shaw (upright bass, bass guitar); Ray Brinker, Bernie Dresel (drums); Luis Conte (percussion).
Gordon Goodwin's Big Phat Band proves that large jazz ensembles are still in demand with this mostly rewarding effort. Goodwin, who wrote most of the music and doubles on piano and tenor sax, makes the most of his group's abilities. Highlights include the modern swing chart "Count Bubba's Revenge," the playful "Hunting Wabbits (A Bad Hare Day)" featuring Sal Lanzo on piccolo, and "Ever Braver, Ever Stronger (An American Elegy)," which is a richly textured work suggesting the influence of ...
| | King Left New York Nothing CD (2008)
Vicious White Kids Live CD music
$6.69 Most childhood friendships have a way of dissipating as life progresses. For The King Left, however, these youthful relationships were the start of a strong musical journey. Bassist Ian Bullett, guitarist Mark Grissom and drummer Graham Rothenberg all grew up in the blue-collar town of Elmira, New York – famous for being the place Mark Twain was both married and buried – before sojourning to Ithaca College. The group of friends officially became a band after being recruited by classmate Corey Oliver to help finish a senior film project. It was in this session The King Left laid the early stages of what would become “Counting Ghosts.” The group promptly relocated to the boroughs of New York City after graduation. Gigging around Gotham, The King Left caused enough commotion to get asked out on a tour with Nightmare Of You. NOY’s drummer (and ex-member of Rival Schools, CIV and Gorilla Biscuits), Sammy Siegler, took the guys into the studio to record their debut, self-titled EP and brought Ian Love (Rival Schools) along to engineer the sessions. The King Left self-released the ...
