| | Juno Awards 2005 CD - Import
This compilation features performances by Canadian heavies such as Avril Lavigne, Shania Twain, Nickelback, the Tragically Hip, Diana Krall, Sara McLachlan, Sum 41, and Bryan Adams, among others.
For the past few years, the Juno Awards have been releasing an album of some of their nominees, just like their American counterpart, the Grammys. 2005 contains more of the same, with the songs all falling pretty much in the adult alternative realm (exceptions perhaps being Jacksoul's "Still Believe in Love" and Diana Krall's "Narrow Daylight"). Artist and Pop Album of the Year winner Avril Lavigne is included, as is Group and Album of the Year winner Billy Talent. Canadian, um, favorites Nickelback also have a cut, "Figured You Out," on the compilation, as do Sarah McLachlan, K-Os, and Celine Dion. Skipped completely are New Group and New Artist of the Year winners Alexisonfire and Feist, though nominees in the latter category, the relatively unknown (in America) Fefe Dobson and Keshia Chanté, each have a song included. The album will definitely appeal more to the listener familiar with Canadian pop, but anyone who enjoys radio-friendly music should be happy with Juno Awards 2005. ~ Marisa Brown

Juno Awards 2005 album
$12.85 After the initial shock fades, the existence of CHRISTMAS IN THE HEART seems perhaps inevitable. After all, the thing Bob Dylan loves most of all are songs that are handed down from generation to generation, songs that are part of the American fabric, songs so common they never seem to have been written. These are the songs Dylan chooses to sing on CHRISTMAS IN THE HEART, a cheerfully old-fashioned holiday album from its Norman Rockwell-esque cover to its joyous backing vocals. Apart from the breakneck "Must Be Santa," which barrelhouses like a barroom, Dylan doesn't really reinterpret these songs as much as simply play them with his crackerjack road band, dropping in a little flair -- restoring "we'll have to muddle through somehow" to "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas," singing ...

Juno Awards 2005 songs
$12.85 Isis plays metal. But it's no stretch to consider the group alongside devotees to drone, sludge, noise, or blip -- all those artistic sublevels spill out on the papery fringe, anyway. And that's why Oceanic: Remixes/Reinterpretations is such a powerful project. The collaborators here are continuing Oceanic's restless evolutionary cycle, so their results are free to be loud, soft, or somewhere in the foggy between. Of the 13 tracks featured on this two-disc set, 12 originally appeared on a series of 12" EPs; disc two's second version of Tim Hecker's "Carry" interpretation is exclusive. Hecker's ...

| | Annakin Slayd American Bitch CD (2005)
Juno Awards 2005 music CDs
$4.79 Annakin Slayd was inspired at a young age by many genres, including soul/R&B, Heavy metal and hip hop. He has artists such as Stevie Wonder, Suicidal Tendencies and Wu-Tang to thank for his fusion of lyrical aggression, croony hooks and heavy musicianship that created his distinctive style. Even though he has only been making music since 2003, Annakin has been in the entertainment business since he graduated from College at the age of 20. Trained as an actor and playwright, he started his own theatre company called Untimely Ripped Entertainment. He soon found himself living poor in Brooklyn, New York doing Off-Off-Broadway theatre. It was in Jamaica, Queens where he was so desperate for work that he auditioned for an upstart label called Full Blaze Records. With only the experience of rapping for kicks with friends back home, Anni nevertheless auditioned and Full Blaze signed him. However, the company failed to flourish and Anni came back to Montreal and started rocking shows with some of the city's best including Offsides, Eye to Eye and funk band Free Oxygen. That's when starting to record The American Bitch single became the next logical step.Working with producer Doc Holiday of Black Page Entertainment, which is an extension of Masters at Work (Montreal's most listened to Hip Hop ...
