| | Tom Gavornik Soul Cry CD Tom Gavornik Discography of CDs
Tom Gavornik is an incredibly eclectic musician and maintains the philosophy that Chuck Berry is as relevant as Charles Ives. "Bird" is an important as Bach or Beethoven, Aaron Copland is as cool as Johnny Cash and John and Paul share the same place in popular music as Rodgers and Hammerstein. Gavornik has studied, performed, recorded and collaborated with a host of musical luminaries: Harry Leahey (grammy award winner, Phil Woods, Eric Kloss, Gerry Mulligan, Ira Sullivan); Jim Stringer, (Asleep at the Wheel, Joe Willliams; Tide, Get Gone and Austin music band. With over forty years of professional experience as a teacher, producer/arranger and TV documentaries, modern dance, jazz guitar, guitarist/composer, Tom, has gained national attention with strong sales and radio play throughout this country and Europe. "Gavornik is one of the most prolific figures in contemporary jazz guitar." James McLeod (Picks of the Week)"Gavornik's compositions are as interesting as his improvisations." Carl Baugher (Cadence Magazine)"A man of jazz with the guitar." Daniel Woods Karcher (WBGO 88. 3FM)"Gavornik's music covers a wide variety of styles ranging from contemporary pop music to modern jazz compositions, encompassing unusual melodies and very spirited improvisations." Soul Cry album
$15.05 Orchestral and choral arrangements of rock songs have been a curious subgenre ever since the mid-'60s when Andrew Loog Oldham arranged The Rolling Stones Songbook for syrupy strings, but The Kinks Choral Collection stands apart from the pack for the simple reason that it's not the project of some associate or admirer, but rather chief Kink Ray Davies. His very presence as arranger and lead vocal means The Kinks Choral Collection isn't nearly as stuffy and middlebrow as so many of these orchestral rock albums; he manages to inject some semblance of rock & roll ...

Herb Alpert was still using an array of SoCal studio all-stars as his Tijuana Brass when South of the Border (1964) began to restore the combo's good name after the modest Herb Alpert's Tijuana Brass, Vol. 2 (1963) failed to ignite a fire in listener's ears. In his essay accompanying Shout! Factory's 2005 Signature Series reissue of South of the Border, Alpert comments that the Sol Lake composition "Mexican Shuffle" "opened a new door for me." That passageway meant the loss of the Tijuana Brass' practically ...

Soul Cry CD music
$11.29 Released in celebration of Les Paul's 90th birthday, AMERICAN MADE WORLD PLAYED pays tribute to the master guitarist and inventor who changed the face of jazz, country, blues, and rock with his recording and guitar-design innovations. While the lineup here is stellar and includes vocalists Sting, Joss Stone, and Mick Hucknall (Simply Red), and guitarists Joe Perry (Aerosmith) and Richie Sambora (Bon Jovi), among others, the album is at its best when it allows Paul to shine in an instrumental setting, ...
