Intitial pressings of this release include a limited edition sticker set.
The three-disc Stereolab box set, OSCILLONS FROM THE ANTI-SUN, is largely comprised of material previously unreleased in the United States. (Of the set's 30-plus songs, most are culled from import-only EPs.) In addition to assembling these hard-to-find tracks in one place, the collection also includes a DVD of rare videos and television performances, making it indispensable for Stereolab enthusiasts.
Yet OSCILLONS is not a "collectors only" item. Stereolab's singles, EPs, and rare tracks are as fully realized and beautifully crafted as anything on their studio albums. This set, then, represents all the band's strengths and is a superb introduction. The full range of the group's sound--with its blend of driving, Velvet Underground-inspired minimalism; sophisticated French pop; trance-like grooves; and burbling, swirling synthesizers--is here. The compilation also confirms Stereolab's standing as one of the most original, pleasurable, and progressive bands of the 1990s and early 2000s. The surprisingly low list price makes OSCILLONS even more irresistible.
This box set contains 3 CDs with with 35 songs, 28 of which were previously unreleased in the US, plus a DVD with rare videos and UK TV performances. The CD tracks were culled from eight EPs previously only available as imports. The first pressing includes a limited edition sticker set of early EP album art.

The 2000s have not been especially kind to Stereolab. Their first album of the decade, 2001's Sound-Dust, marked a slight return to form but was still overrun by the indulgence that made their post-Dots and Loops material something of a chore to hear. And while 2002's ABC Music: The Radio 1 Sessions was a great collection of live performances from their heyday, it inadvertently ended up highlighting how much passion and innovation had dissipated out of the band's music since the mid-'90s. Worst of all, of course, was the tragic death of longtime member and friend Mary Hansen in late 2002. With the loss of Hansen, the stagnancy surrounding their music, and the proliferation of Stereolab side projects -- including Laetitia Sadier's Monade and Simon Johns' Imitation Electric Piano -- it wouldn't have been surprising if the group decided to throw in the towel. Oscillons From The Anti-Sun CD music
$12.05 This Montreal ensemble's fiery debut is marked by surging guitars, soulful strings, driving drums, brilliant bass lines, and the quavering vocals of married couple Win Butler and Regine Chassagne. The group's song structures careen through a vast territory of musical and personal history, with lyrics warm with memories of childhood neighborhoods and deceased loved ones, resulting in an alternating current of joy and sadness.
Favorably compared to the Flaming Lips, Mercury Rev, and Broken Social Scene, the Arcade Fire's sound seems to come from a lifetime of listening to the Cure, Talking Heads, Elvis Costello, and many others--even a ...

Oscillons From The Anti-Sun music CDs
$15.09 The 10-year-anniversary deluxe edition of CROOKED RAIN, CROOKED RAIN is a Pavement fan's dream come true. It feature no less than 37 (!) bonus tracks over the course of its two discs. Some are studio outtakes, some are alternate versions, others are rare B-sides, but all hail from the CROOKED RAIN era and underscore the degree to which the band was firing on all cylinders at the time.
Tuneful without being soft, confident without being pompous, hip without being inaccesible, CROOKED RAIN, CROOKED RAIN was a huge leap for Pavement up the rock & roll evolution cycle. They may have gained some pop smarts, but a casual listen to the dissonant guitar solo of "Cut Your Hair" proves that the seeds planted with ...
