| | Amon Duul II Vortex CD Amon Duul II Discography of CDs
"Vortex" was the first and also the only album the band recorded in the 80th. Renate Knaup, Chris Karrer, Daniel Fichelscher, Jorg Evers and Falk U. Rogener, and the "guests" Lothar Meid, John Weinzierl and Stefan Zauner met 1981 in the studio too try it again. With "Vortex" they wanted to show, that there is still that old magic in the music of Amon Duul 2. Songs like ‘We Are Machine’, ‘Vibes In The Air’ or ‘Holy West’, are comparable with all the Duul-Classics. The song ‘Wings Of The Wind’ is a song that could be from the milestone album ‘Wolf City’. Vortex
$23.75 Kaleidoscope World is the Chills' essential document, a collection of tracks from early and mid-'80s EPs, singles, and compilation cuts. The influence of Syd Barrett and early Pink Floyd is stronger on these early tracks than it would be on subsequent releases, both on the easygoing sing along numbers and the more experimental outings. The highlight (of both the album and the Chills' career) is their New Zealand hit single, the haunting 'Pink Frost'.
KALEIDOSCOPE WORLD contains 10 bonus tracks and represents everything the band recorded through early 1986, including all of the LOST EP, and the I LOVE MY LEATHER JACKET/THE GREAT ESCAPE 12" KALEIDOSCOPE WORLD, The Chills' 18-track compilation culled from The Chills early and mid-'80s EPs and singles, is highlighted by the song "Pink Frost." Kaleidoscope World is the Chills' essential document, although it's not an album but a collection of tracks from early- and mid-'80s EPs, singles, and compilation cuts. Perhaps that's not surprising: the Chills are more skilled at crafting interesting odds and sods than sustaining interest over the course of an album, where their somewhat monochromatic approach tends to drag ...
| | Kylie Minogue Fever CD (2002) (Import) Bonus Tracks; Japan
Vortex
$39.49 The 2002 enhanced Japan-only version features four additional tracks and two videos. This is an Enhanced CD, which contains both regular audio tracks and multimedia computer files. Fame can be a fleeting mistress, and nowhere more so than in the land of dance-pop divas. Many are lucky enough to have a hit album, much less two or three. What usually takes a one-hit wonder from the singles charts to career diva lies less in catchy hooks than in a combination of talent and the choice of collaborators. Obviously, the master of this technique is Madonna, whose talent and eye for talent in others has made her not only a worldwide pop sensation, but a worldwide icon. Arguably, running a close second is Kylie Minogue. Starting off as not much more than a female voice for the massively successful Stock, Aitken & Waterman hit factory, she moved on to work with some of the most prominent dance producers of the early '90s, making her one of the most visible pop stars outside of the United States. By 1997, she moved on to working with writers outside the genre. While this may have translated into poor record sales, her motives were in the right place. With 2001's Fever, Minogue combines the disco-diva comeback of the previous year's Light Years with the trend of simple dance rhythms which was prevalent in the teen dance-pop craze of the years surrounding the album's release. While on the surface that might seem like an old dog trying to learn new tricks, Minogue pulls ...
| | Barbra Streisand Duets CD (2002) Remastered
Vortex
$7.59 DUETS is a compilation of duets and contains a new duet recording with Barry Manilow, "I Won't Be The One Let Go". Personnel includes: Barbra Streisand, Barry Manilow, Barry Gibb, Neil Diamond, Bryan Adams, Ray Charles, Frank Sinatra, Celine Dion, Donna Summer, Johnny Mathis, Kris Kristofferson, Kim Carnes, Don Johnson, Vince Gill, Michael Crawford, Judy Garland, Harold Arlen, Josh Groban. Producers include: Walter Afanasieff, Richard Marx, Barry Gibb, Albhy Galuten, David Foster. Recorded between 1966 & 2002. In her lengthy career, Barbra Streisand has never shown much inclination to share the spotlight. In the movies, she must endure a leading man, but in her recordings, she has gone it alone for the most part. In 1978, however, a disc jockey edited together her and Neil Diamond's recordings of "You Don't Bring Me Flowers," and she and Diamond quickly cut a real duet, resulting in a number one hit. Thereafter, she cannily coaxed others into sharing the microphone, resulting in chart singles with Donna Summer, Barry Gibb, Kim Carnes, former ...

| | Danny Kirwan Second Chapter CD (1975) (Import) With Book; Limited Edition; Digipak; Germany
Vortex
$22.35 The first solo album from Fleetwood Mac singer/songwriter Daniel David Kirwan has the future producer for Human League and Buzzcocks, Martin Rushent, utilizing those skills here, as well as engineering. The sound is crystal clear, and a feather in the cap for Rushent as well as Kirwan. It starts off with an uncharacteristic "Ram Jam City," which has more Lindsey Buckingham sounds than one would expect, especially since the two guitarists come from two different musical worlds. "Odds and Ends" is more lighthearted, the kind of music Paul McCartney toyed with on The White Album's "Rocky Raccoon." What Second Chapter immediately sets forth is the importance of Kirwan as a pop artist, and how, despite Fleetwood Mac's success after he left, his sounds could still have been beneficial to that supergroup. "Hot Summers Day" is a fine example of that, a beautiful song that could offset Buckingham's gritty ramblings. It would have made a nice counterpoint as Stevie Nicks complemented Christine McVie's tunes with ...
