NOTHING IS STRAIGHT IN MY HOUSE, the 13 track release from seminal punk group The Saints, features 13 tracks including "Porno Movies" and "Digging A Hole."
Since 1997's Howling, Chris Bailey has been working hard to re-establish the Saints's reputation as a tough, hard-edged rock & roll band after a string of pop-oriented albums in the 1980s, and 2005's Nothing Is Straight in My House takes a further step in the right direction by pairing Bailey with one of the best guitarists in Australian rock, Marty Willson-Piper of the Church. While Nothing Is Straight in My House is a far cry from the punk-flavored assault of (I'm) Stranded, the pounding opening salvo of "Porno Movies" shows Willson-Piper knows how to confidently make with the crunch, while drummer Pete Wilkinson and bassist Caspar Wijnberg set up a menacing throb in the background. While Bailey does throw in a few mid-tempo numbers along the way, such as the folk-rock-influenced "I Couldn't Help Myself" and "Garden Dark," the good news is "Bang On," "Paint the Town Electric," and "Nylon Pirates" find the Saints rocking out with smarts, swagger, and supreme confidence, and Chris Bailey is once again producing the sort of sneering vocals that made him a contender back in the day. Bailey is also writing up to his best standard on this set, and while the overly clean production sometimes holds the band back, the fact is this album rocks, and when it comes to the Saints, that's always good news. Great stuff. ~ Mark Deming
Loud, noisy, passionate and demented this outlaw art reflects not only the current state of The Saints but the world itself. Kicking off with derocious drum tattooed 'Porno Movies', the album careers headlong into an adrenalin fuelled maelstrom of guitars and howling vocals. The Cadiz Recording Co. 2005.

Nothing Is Straight In My House music CDs
$10.69 On his debut album, Fulks keeps the spirit of cry-in-your-beer honky-tonk music alive. While he's musically conservative, employing traditional, mostly acoustic instrumentation and classic country song structures, his lyrical muse runs further afield. On "She Took A Lot Of Pills And Died," the mere title of which should earn him a spot in the Country Hall Of Fame, and "Let's Live Together," his sardonic humor adds a twist to the proceedings, but he never gets self-conscious or detached enough to mitigate the emotional impact. Stark, self-effacing tunes like "Barely Human" and "Rock Bottom, Pop. 1" combine ...

$16.45 HOLDING PATTERN was formed in 1981 and quickly gained notoriety as being one of the most important progressive rock bands hailing from the U.S. Through the release of their debut album, videos, radio air play and performances with Steve Morse, Kansas, Rick Wakeman and Steve Howe to name a few. HOLDING PATTERN quickly built a loyal following of prog rock fans from around the globe. Guitarist/composer Tony Spada's split with HP in 1992 prompted him to start a new band to support the release of his critically acclaimed solo album 'BALANCE OF POWER' and a chance to return to a more progressive/guitaristic style of music. BALANCE OF POWER was enjoyed not only by fans of HP but helped create a solo career to a growing audience in just about every country.Spada's next solo album 'THE HUMAN ELEMENT' was released January 2005, and created a buzz in the prog community based on reviews, requests for advance orders and strong coverage in various media. Some writers and fans calling it 'the guitar album of the year'The record featured a new streamlined lineup, comprised of Tony Spada guitars/synth guitar, ace session man Rob Gottfried on drums, and the multi-talented Tony Castellano on bass/keyboards. Although basically a power trio, 'THE HUMAN ELEMENT' stretched out in many directions, from classical guitar music, to heavy prog fusion,Celtic and old style symphonic prog with heavy emphasis on the guitar (also available at CD Baby)Due to an elevated interest in his back catalog of releases and a recent reunion tour in Japan, an album seemed to be the obvious next step. REVIEWSHOLDING PATTERN'S ' BREAKING THE SILENCE ' is the new reunion album featuring original band members Tony Spada-guitars Tony Castellano-bass,keyboards,Mark Tannenbaum-keyboards,Rob Gottfried and Robert Hutchinson- drums, cranking out virtuosic performances throughout just about every facet of progressive rock's finest qualities. The album also features a live bonus track from their performance at Tokyo's Poseidon Festival ...
