Closed Captioned; Standard Screen; Soundtrack English; Director's Comments; Behind The Scenes MACARTHUR PARK is the powerful directorial debut of actor Billy Wirth (THE LOST BOYS, WAR PARTY). Wirth's film was initially intended as a documentary on the homeless drug addicts living in Los Angeles' once-elegant, but now crime-infested, MacArthur Park. While interviewing park residents for the documentary, Wirth learned of a script written by a former playwright-turned-crack-addict, Tyrone Atkins, who had lived in the park but was now serving time in prison. Atkins' manuscript was eventually found and filmed by Wirth as a loosely-disguised biographical fiction centered around park resident and former trumpet player Cody (Thomas Jefferson Byrd), who lost both his career and his family to crack cocaine addiction. Byrd leads a large ensemble that cast includes Ellen Cleghorne, Lori Petty, Miguel Nunez, and real-life rappers Bad Azz, B-Real, and Sticky Fingaz as the park's other drug-addled citizens. The vibrant hip-hop soundtrack--composed by Jane's Addiction's Stephen Perkins and featuring an electrifying cover of "MacArthur Park" by Macy Gray--adds a gritty, authentic vibe to the film's portrayal of drug addiction and broken souls.

$9.69 This relatively little-known film is widely hailed by fans of the macabre. Truly ahead of its time, NIGHTMARE ALLEY is set in the gritty, surrealistic world of traveling carnivals, where eccentric people of all possible varieties interact on a daily basis. In a departure from his usual roles as the Hollywood leading man, handsome Tyrone Power plays a morally questionable circus apprentice determined to climb the carnival ladder no matter what the price. Powers shows immense range in what was arguably his finest role ever as the sometimes unrecognizably scruffy circus ...

$19.55 Russian drama master Anton Chekhov's play THE SEAGULL is brought to life in this acclaimed 1975 production. Starring famed stage and film actors Frank Langella, Blythe Danner, Olympia Dukakis, and Lee Grant, the play mixes surreal comedy and family tragedy to moving effect. When Konstantin, an idealistic young playwright, writes and stages an experimental play at his family's country estate, friends and relatives convene there to see it performed. Among the audience are his egotistical, temperamental actress mother Arkadina, and her lover, a brilliant novelist named Trigorin. Their presence at the staging is disruptive and dramatic, stirring up profound emotions in all of those present.

$9.15 Based on 2004 presidential candidate Senator John McCain's memoir of the same name, this A&E drama traces the horrors McCain suffered as a Vietnamese prisoner of war, and his heroism in the face of dire hardship. McCain (played by Shawn Hatosy) was raised by a family of career military men; his grandfather served next to Admiral Bull Halsey in WWII, and his father was a superior submarine commander. McCain follows in their footsteps in many regards, and when he finds himself helming a bombing mission over North Vietnam in 1967, he courageously carries out his orders despite the immanence of grave danger. Consequently, he is shot down, captured by the enemy, and subjected to frequent torture and inhumane conditions. His broken arm and leg goes virtually untreated, and yet he refuses to lose heart in an inspirational testimony to the strength of the human spirit. The story unfolds in flashbacks, showing how, over the course of five years as a POW, McCain is forced to choose between his country and his survival, and finds the strength of his ancestors within himself.
