Retrace the steps of the Wright Brothers' historic quest to free humankind from the bounds of gravity. Kitty Hawk, North Carolina became the site of a key moment in history when, in 1903, Wilbur and Orville Wright managed to get their glider craft flying in the air for 12 whole seconds. While they are credited with having made the world's first working airplane, the Wright brothers--originally two bicycle mechanics from Ohio--did not always receive such unanimous support. Taking viewers back in time to the early 20th century, THE TECHNOLOGY OF KITTY HAWK examines the technological limits, challenges, and difficulties that the pioneering Wright team had to rise above in order to make their dreams of man's flight a reality. $7.75 James Cameron, director of the hugely successful TITANIC, returns to a subject with which he appears infatuated. GHOSTS OF THE ABYSS sees Cameron assemble a team of scientists, documentarians, and actor-narrator Bill Paxton to descend 12,000 feet to the wreckage of the Titanic. The results are rendered in the stunning IMAX 3-D format, following two submersible vehicles that carry the crew members to the depths of the ocean floor. A visibly nervous Paxton takes his first trip to the wreckage, and muses on the historical and scientific importance of their journey. The Titanic appears from the murky gloom of the ocean depths, an eerie and startling occurrence that leaves Paxton and crew awestruck. Two mini robotic cameras are unleashed to explore the nooks and crannies of the ship, with director Cameron superimposing shots of actors playing out scenes that may have occurred in the final hours of the dying ship.

Modern Marvels - The Technology Of Kitty Hawk DVD
$9.69 This frightening remake of the 1979 horror classic from producer Michael Bay (THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE) delves deeper into the supposedly true story of supernatural events that occurred in a Long Island, New York home in the '70s. When George and Kathy Lutz (Ryan Reynolds and Melissa George) come across a beautiful river-front colonial home being sold for a steal, they suspect a catch. Once informed that the home was the site of a grisly mass murder, they decide to buy the house anyway and eagerly move in, bringing with them Kathy's three children from a previous marriage. While no one can deny that the house is rife with spooky sounds, the family members try to put their fears at bay. But over time, strange occurrences start happening, becoming more and more frequent, and these events start to have a transformative effect on several family members. Kathy's daughter starts to act bizarrely, ending up in a variety of life-threatening situations, led by her new, not-so-imaginary friend Jody (one of the children slaughtered in the house years before by her older brother). Likewise, something strange seems to be happening to George. His usually sweet demeanor is replaced with a hostile one, and he starts cruelly taking out his aggression on Kathy's children. Kathy's original assumption that a house cannot be evil is challenged as she watches her husband transform into the sort ...

$16.89 Is yawning contagious? Could a penny dropping from a building kill someone? These and many other common assumptions are examined in the Discovery Channel's hit MYTHBUSTERS series starring Jamie Hyneman and Adam Savage. Staging exhilarating and often explosive experiments, these special-effects wizards use science--and one very abused test dummy--to answer questions that have been plaguing viewers. This set collects 12 episodes from the show's second and third seasons, including "Cell Phone Destroys Gas Station," "Killer Brace Position," and the ever-popular "Lightning Strikes/Tongue Piercing."
