Performers include Jem, Rachel Yamagata, Nellie McKay, Dar Williams, Magnet.
While it's not surprising that Monster-in-Law's soundtrack boasts an estrogen-heavy track listing, this is an unusually hip collection of songs for a mainstream romantic comedy. Singer/songwriters dominate the album, but performers such as Rachael Yamagata and Nellie McKay -- whose hilarious, thinly veiled threat "Won't U Please B Nice" is a standout -- make sure that things don't get too sweet. Even the prettiest moments, like Ivy's "I've Been Thinking About You" and Madeleine Peyroux's "Don't Wait Too Long," are elegant instead of cloying. With artists including Jem, Joss Stone, Tegan & Sara, and Astaire, Monster-in-Law often feels like a who's who of up-and-coming, post-Lilith Fair-era female performers; it's a pleasant soundtrack, especially because it's often pleasantly unpredictable. ~ Heather Phares Monster-In-Law Soundtrack Music Monster In Law Monster-In-Law Soundtrack Songs Monster-In-Law Soundtrack Music Review Monster-In-Law Soundtrack CD Purchase Music From Monster-In-Law CD To buy, Click on price to add to cart | Lil Mo Based On A True Story CD (2001)

The Big Apple rapper and singer is a protégé of Missy "Misdemeanor" Elliot, but where Elliot's game is cutting lines and cutting-edge hip-hop, Lil' Mo is a lil' more subtle, preferring to tap into her roots in old-fashioned gospel and R&B. That's not to say this album lacks the requisite up-tempo club thumpers -- ...

Monster-In-Law Soundtrack music CDs
$7.59 Clint Eastwood's chapter in Martin Scorsese Presents the Blues centers around the piano's role in the development of the blues. In typical Eastwood fashion, he goes not for the easy or common associations of the instrument with the music, but looks expansively at how the restricted sonics of the piano as a melodic instrument and its possibilities as a percussion instrument created a spiralling and deep-rooted bottom for the music in all genres of popular music as it developed in the 20th century. Here is Jimmy Yancey's primitive and profound version of "How Long Blues" juxtaposed against the harmonically sophisticated read of the song by Count Basie and his orchestra. The New Orleans blues are celebrated in their modern incarnations -- as they contributed to the architecture ...
