Over the course of his musical career, Trent Reznor has managed to deliver a full-length studio album about every five years. Although he's a bit late with 2005's WITH TEETH (following 1999's THE FRAGILE), listeners are rewarded with Nine Inch Nails' most streamlined and straightforward record since PRETTY HATE MACHINE. Here Reznor cuts back on programming and synthesizers, opting for heavy use of guitars, bass, and--surprisingly--piano and live drums. In fact, the album's secret weapon is drummer Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters, Nirvana), whose thunderous percussive style gives certain songs--most notably the frenetic "You Know What You Are?"--added weight and a welcome no-frills rock edge. Though the techno/industrial element of Reznor's music has been played down, his lyrics are typically angst-ridden, with dramatic tales of isolation, deception, loss, and love gone wrong. More than 15 years after his debut, Reznor is as tormented as ever, and Nine Inch Nails fans wouldn't have it any other way.
Nine Inch Nails: Trent Reznor (vocals, guitar, keyboards, bass guitar).
Additional personnel: Dave Grohl (drums).

Nine Inch Nails With Teeth Songs With Teeth Music Review Average Rating: (3.8 out of 5 stars) List All Reviews Trent Getting Lighter? It seems that NIN has been getting happier and happier these years. I'm used to the hard industrial sounds that NIN used to produce. Same type of quality, but not the right "goodness" of Classic NIN. Still all in all, NIN pumps out a great cd yet again, but a little on the light side. Submitted by spitman (Shaftsbury, VT) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Really Good! This album was great! It was more instumenty based and less electronical than some of the other albums. Likethat other guy said, it has a brighter feel to it, but still a great album. My personal favorites are Sunspots, Getting Smaller, Only, The Hand That Feeds, Right Where It Belongs, and With Teeth. Oh and guys, don't write a review of an NIN CD if you're gonna hate on NIN. It gets the REAL fans angry! Submitted by Matt (Chatham, NY) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Typical Trent Reznor Product Like all this guy's CDs, this one follows a very specific formula. Reznor creates two or three decent songs. I say decent because he hooks fans into these songs by creating choruses featuring numerous repeated lines, which make them less likely to be forgotten. After these songs, the rest of the releases is pure industrial/techno crap. Submitted by Brock (Danville, CA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
TRENT DOES IT AGAIN !! ONCE AGAIN NIN DOESN'T DISPOINT WITH THE " WITH TEETH " ALBUM. TRACKS LIKE ( SUNSPOTS, EVERYDAY, RIGHT WHERE IT BELONGS, AND THE HAND) ARE SOME OF NIN'S BEST. THE ONLY THING I WISH IS TRENT WONT TAKE AS LONG WITH HIS NEXT CLASSIC ALBUM!! Submitted by BIGG MIKE (FLORIDA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Very Satisfied I really think that this is one of his best albums in a very long time. He given his music an upbeat sound, which has really enriched the album over all. Submitted by veryalot8 (Illinois) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

With Teeth
$12.59 Garbage's mantra for BLEED LIKE ME could be "that which doesn't kill you only makes you stronger," given the emotional and creative upheaval this unit went through in the four years that elapsed between this disc and 2001's BEAUTIFUL GARBAGE. Following personal conflicts and health woes for both Butch Vig and Shirley Manson, the quartet stripped down its sound and amped up the guitars to create an ...

| | Lovesliescrushing Bloweyelashwish CD (1995)
With Teeth
$13.89 The amount of bands My Bloody Valentine inspired (and sometimes more than inspired) throughout the '90s is near endless, but there's no question that some took that inspiration to a better place than others. Lovesliescrushing easily took it to one of the best; with all the chaotic yet beautiful frenzy of Kevin Shields at his most creative, yet with its own mysterious, dreamy goth air, the duo created an amazing sonic bomb with Bloweyelashwish. ...

| | Lightnin Hopkins Lightnin' & The Blues: The Herald Sessions CD (2001) Remastered
With Teeth
$7.59 Lightnin' Hopkins' many albums are remarkably consistent (or all of them sound the same, depending on the way you want to phrase it), featuring his semi-improvised autobiographical lyrics sung over a stock set of slow blues riffs, with the occasional speeded-up boogie tossed in, and now and then a turn at the piano. Whether Hopkins played acoustic or electric guitar really didn't make much difference in his sound, Lightnin' was Lightnin' either way. While this set of recordings he made for New York-based Herald Records (the actual sessions were held in Houston) in 1954 with drummer Ben Turner and bassist Donald Cooks doesn't deviate much from the stock Hopkins template, it is particularly sharp, featuring some of the best electric guitar he ever played. The songs themselves are short, sweet, and to the point, often trailing off after a couple of verses, which gives sides like "Life I Used to Live" an added poignancy ...
| | Christmas Remixed, Vol. 2 CD (2005)
With Teeth
$13.69 Pop Christmas songs are generally written out of a kind of deliberate nostalgia, appealing to the perceived listener's yearning for a gentler, simpler time when the holiday wasn't besieged by a blitz of ads, airport schedules, and credit card statements, a time when a gentle snowfall, some roasted chestnuts, and a sleigh ride were more than enough for a perfect holiday. The sort of instant nostalgia that is built into the DNA of songs like "White Christmas," "Jingle Bells," and countless other Christmas classics, coupled with the fact that they only appear on the airwaves in the holiday season, giving each listener ample opportunity to add on his own personal memories of past holidays to the song's cache, makes it especially difficult to drastically alter the arrangements of these treasured perennials without sounding glib or gimmicky. Christmas Remixed, Vol. 2, like its predecessor, manages to respectfully recast a dozen of these holiday classics as beat-heavy electronica without destroying much or any of the songs' built-in nostalgia, which is a feat by any measure. Produced by Jeff Daniel and David Hargis, Remixed is a delight from the opening electric hum of the Boombox ...
| | Bradley Sowash For The Beauty Of The Earth: Hymns And Spirituals For Solo Jazz Piano, Vol. CD (2004)
With Teeth
$9.89 For the Beauty of the EarthBradley Sowash's final release in the acclaimed trilogy of hymns and spirituals for solo jazz piano has a decidedly personal feel. Some of the selections emphasize nature such as Shall We Gather By he River, The Ash Grove, and the title cut, For the Beauty of the Earth. Others dig deeply into jazz traditions such as the blues inflected Go Down Moses or a striding This Little Light of Mine. Whatever the style, Sowash's unique take on these timeless melodies both surprises and delights. Four bonus tracks include sample cuts from previous recordings.Designer Bryan Huber's spiritually suggestive packaging contributes to the sense of intimacy with a scrapbook format that includes excerpts from the artist's journals, pressed leaves and Frank Hunter's haunting photos of earthly pathways. Sowash is in constant demand as a solo jazz piano concert artist. He has been touring throughout the US and Europe since 1983. Billboard Magazine declared "he can really move an audience along with zest and wit."Review:ChristianityToday.com (April 05) by Russ BreimeierOhio's Bradley Sowash is familiar to PBS viewers as a regular guest on "The Piano Guy," as well as NPR listeners who have heard his recordings regularly played on "Morning Edition." A composer, educator, and acclaimed pianist, Sowash has toured concert halls and churches alike for more than twenty years. He's recorded six instrumental albums, but this is his third disc of hymns and spirituals for jazz piano in the last four years-and reportedly his final, since it completes a trilogy. Those who enjoyed Chris Rice's Living Room Sessions albums will love this. Sowash's technique incorporates more jazz, which makes it a more lively experience suitable for active or passing listening. Sowash gives a boogie-woogie feel to "Glory, Glory Hallelujah" while gliding through some bluesy runs in the title track and "Go Down Moses." Other highlights include a breezy, bouncy take on "This Little ...
