Purchase Heiss CD To buy, Click on price to add to cart | George Harrison Brainwashed CD (2002)
Heiss
$14.39 BRAINWASHED was nominated for the 2004 Grammy Award for Best Pop Vocal Album. "Marwa Blues" won the 2004 Grammy Award for Best Pop Instrumental Performance. "Any Road" was nominated for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance.
BRAIN WASHED may be the posthumous successor to 1987's CLOUD NINE, but the 15 years George Harrison took to put this collection of songs together was time well spent. Featuring a small group of musicians including son Dhani, fellow Wilbury Jeff Lynne, and Jools Holland, Harrison's last legacy showcases some of his finest playing wrapped around the kind of weighty topics expected from someone with terminal ...

| | Residents Bunny Boy CD (2008) (Import)
Heiss
$12.15 The Bunny Boy is the newest project from the Residents, but it's much more than just an album. The album was inspired by the Bunny Boy Internet series (available at residents.com), which will also extend into the tour. Here's the supposed story: a friend of the Residents' has had his brother go missing, apparently on the island of Patmos in Greece. This friend ("Bunny") is a (mostly) computer illiterate man who spends most of his time in his "secret room." He's got some clues: postcards from Patmos and the contents of his brother Harvey's computer. From the secret room, he posts video messages (the webisodes) on the Internets hoping that people will help him find his Armageddon-obsessed brother ...

| | Allman Brothers Band 2nd Set CD (1995)
Heiss
$7.59 Also available as a 3-pack with AN EVENING WITH THE ALLMAN BROTHERS BAND-1ST SET and SEVEN TURNS.
Recorded live at Walnut Creek Amphitheater, Raleigh, North Carolina on July 1, 1994; Garden State Arts Center, Holmdel, New Jersey on August 16, 1994; Club R&R, Los Angeles, California on June 11, 1992.
"Jessica" won a 1996 Grammy Award for Best Rock Instrumental Performance. "In Memory Of Elizabeth Reed" was nominated for Best Pop Instrumental Performance.
A kind of companion piece to the 1992 AN EVENING WITH THE ALLMAN BROTHERS, this compilation of live shows from 1992 and 1994 isn't as epochal as LIVE AT THE FILLMORE EAST (what could be?) but it's an excellent set in its own right. At the very least it demonstrates why the reconstituted Allman Brothers became such an in-demand concert attraction in the '90s.

| | Buzzcocks French Et Encore Du Pain: The Complete 1995 Paris Live Recordings CDs (2004)
Heiss
$13.95 Since the Buzzcocks returned to active duty in 1989, no small number of fans and loyalists have grumbled a bit about the quality of the studio work from the latter-day version of the punk-pop pioneers, but one seldom hears anyone speaking ill of their live shows, and this release will show you why. Originally released in 1996, French was recorded during a Buzzcocks gig in Paris in the spring of 1995, and it captured the band in typically superb form, roaring through a 20-song set of new tunes and old favorites with equal measures of skill and passion; the sweaty fire of the show certainly communicated on tape, and it was a tremendous testament of the band's continued strengths. However, as is so often the case with live albums, there was more where that came from, and the 1999 release Paris: Encore du Pain featured ten more songs from the same concert (including several audience favorites such as "I Don't Know What to Do With My Life," "Orgasm Addict" and "Ever Fallen in Love?"). French et Encore du Pain: The Complete 1995 Paris Live is a double-disc set that finally, logically, makes the two releases available in one package, with French containing the show's main set and the second CD featuring the ten tunes from their three encores, and the band sounds just as fired up on the final ...
| | Shelley Berman Live At The Improv CD (1995)
Heiss
$12.45 Shelley Berman devoted much of his time to acting in the '90s after spending the lion's share of the previous two decades semi-retired, but this album, recorded at one of Los Angeles's best-known comedy clubs, shows his talent and instincts as a standup comic remained as sharp as ever. Live at the Improv features both fresh material and Berman reprising routines from his classic albums of the '50s and '60s. While somewhere along the line Berman seems to have developed a fondness for dialect gags (such as the Latino room service operator in "Hotels" or the presumably Eastern European translator in "International Conference"), for the most part this finds Berman ...
| | Mantic Ritual Executioner CD (2009)
Heiss
$13.05 Innovative experimentation can be a wondrous thing in music; it certainly worked well for boldly original risk-takers such as Miles Davis, David Bowie, Charlie Parker, Prince, Ornette Coleman, and Jimi Hendrix. But realistically, not every recording artist is going to be an innovator; many musicians will inevitably turn to the past for inspiration. And if overtly retro performers can be a part of jazz and the blues, is there any reason why they shouldn't be a part of metal? There isn't -- as long as the people who emulate the past do it well. On their debut album, Executioner, Mantic Ritual (formerly Meltdown) offer a passionate and inspired throwback to 1980s thrash metal. Executioner was originally ...
