Cafe Latino CD music
$6.29 With BIRTH OF THE COOL, Miles Davis distilled a new tonal palette for jazz. As early as 1954, Miles reacted to the escalating chordal complexity of hard bop by fashioning an evocative blues based on a simple scalar pattern ("Swing Spring"). KIND OF BLUE was the ...

Cafe Latino album
$10.05 Michael Buble's third major US release (including the mostly live COME FLY WITH ME) stays on message--this young Canadian loves the lush, swaying music of his parents' and grandparents' generations. Buble's albums, however, are much more than mere back-in-the-day exercises. The production and arranging of David Foster (Celine Dion, Josh Groban) is eclectic in a way that firmly places the tunes at the dawn of the 21st century, and, more importantly, Buble possesses the ...

$15.19 Who IS this band??Billband is a collection of the most talented musicians on the PLANET. They are a refreshingly unusual combination of instruments-violin, trumpet, saxophone, bass clarinet, piano and drums-with a sound that will leave you breathless.Todd Reynolds, violinWayne DuMaine, trumpetTaimur Sullivan, soprano/alto/tenor saxophone Michael Lowenstern, bass clarinetSteve Gosling, pianoDavid Cossin, drumsBill Ryan, composerIndividually, these players have a tall list of credits. They have performed on Grammy and Academy Award-winning CDs, network television and radio, Broadway, countless film and television scores, and toured around the globe. They have performed with a stellar lineup of artists including Wynton Marsalis, Prince, Bo Diddley, Yo-Yo Ma, Take 6, Bang on a Can All-Stars, Blue Man Group, Steve Reich Ensemble, Ethel, Anthony Braxton, Joe Jackson, Graham Nash, Marcus Roberts, Wayne Shorter, Cassandra Wilson, the Platters, the Drifters, Louis Bellson, and Jimmy Heath. What IS this music??Whether the driving, rhythmic grooves of Original Blend, the pulsating build-up of Capacity 49, the haunting textures of Blurred, or the playful tunes of Drive, this is a music you will not forget. ____July 14, 2004 All Music Guide Reviewby François CoutureBill Ryan's idea is rather simple: to write pieces using a single motif that will slowly evolve as it is being repeated over and over. Of course, it is one of the concepts at the heart of American Minimalism (Philip Glass, Steve Reich and Terry Riley's music, to mention but three). But Billband spins the idea on its head, giving it a funky, down-to-earth feel and, in the process, revamping it the same way L'Infonie had reinvented Riley's "In C" in the early '70s by adding a rock rhythm section to it. This kind of music relies on two basic principles in order to be successful: the listener ...

Cafe Latino CD music
$18.95 Music has always been a part of my being. When I was smaller, my dad sat me in front of the speakers of his stereo. I have always had an interest in music, but I did not begin to pursue what was inside of me all along until the end of high school.I began playing gospel music and I have been playing ever since. After 141/2 years of using my gift, I know this is my passion, my love, and my profession. Gospel music opened the door for me to begin exploring my gift. I consider it my 'backbone'. I played for my first church at the age of 20. Playing, teaching vocals, and mending voice parts together to make beautiful sounds was my mission. As I began to play, my skills as a keyboardist began to blossom. I started to become a confident musician and I realized that I had a tremendous contribution in the music field. As the years passed, people began to know who I was. That was really cool to me. I really enjoyed playing gospel music, but I wanted to try something different. Many people have said that I have a jazzy style, so I started to listen to several different jazz artists. I began studying Duke Ellington, Nat King Cole, Jimmy Smith, Stevie Wonder, and the list goes on and on. I then began to develop my own 'feel' for jazz music. My own sound began to surface. Some people have even told me that I have a signature sound. I really thought that was cool. I really began to find myself as a jazz musician. That's where my project originated. I already had some decent musical ...
