The 2005 installment of TOTALLY HITS presents another hit-filled mix that stretches across a broad spectrum of styles. Given the fascination with reality television, it's not surprising that a couple of AMERICAN IDOL folks make the cut here, including pop-star-turned-rocker Kelly Clarkson ("Since U Been Gone") and R&B vocalist Fantasia ("Truth Is"). R&B and hip-hop are both well represented on this collection, with piano-playing siren Alicia Keys ("Karma") and neo-soul crooner Anthony Hamilton ("Charlene") rubbing elbows with Dirty South rapper Trick Daddy ("Let's Go) and the prolific Missy Elliott, who pops up twice (on Ciara's "1, 2 Step" and Tweet's "Turn Da Lights Off"). Of course, the pop/rock world also factors in here, including catchy offerings from Ryan Cabrera ("True") and ONE TREE HILL heartthrob Gavin DeGraw ("I Don't Want to Be"). Like its predecessors, TOTALLY HITS 2005 reflects the pop-music climate of the time, resulting in a highly enjoyable and accessible compilation.

These artist all have uniqe talent and not one of them is a flop! Botom line, dont listen to the stupid reviews, listen to the CD. You wont be disaponted!

I like it a lot
I thought it was awesome..with kelly clarkson since you been gone and simple plan's Shut up! I also thought some of the rap songs were amazing. The only reason I actually like this cd..is because half the songs are good..though my favorite is simple plan 'shut up!' but I was amazed with all of the songs...

This CD doesnt score on the list of must-have music. It includes some good songs, but what about previous #1 songs of this year? An example is Green Day's Boulevard of Broken Dreams. This song was #1 this year, and topped the charts, even though it was released in 2004. This CD's tracks are dissapointing, and not worth the time spent listening to them.

 The Hits? More like flops!
the hits? more like flops! this is so non-urban. kelly clarkson? ciara? avril lavigne? THESE ARE ALL FLOPS! the only place they charted was like on what...nothing..other than 1 small non-existant whitey chart!
hopefully 2006 edition or 05' pt. 2 has the hits!

The first pressings of THE DEFINITIVE COLLECTION included a bonus disc featuring rare tracks.
THE DEFINITIVE COLLECTION, though not as thorough as the excellent two-disc set GOLD (released a year prior), is a handy overview of the Commodores' career, beginning with 1974's "Machine Gun" and concluding with 1985's "Nightshift." The only Top Ten R&B hits not included here are "Sail On," and a couple of later '80s cuts, so all the big funk jams ("Too Hot ta Trot," "Brick House," "Lady [You Bring Me Up],") and ballads ("Zoom," "Easy," "Three Times a Lady") are indeed included. This set also scores a little extra by including one of the band's best album cuts, 1976's "Girl, I Think the World About You," which has been left off at least 90-percent of all Commodores comps.
