Fans only familiar with Seether's massive crossover hit "Broken" (which features Evanescence's Amy Lee), may be surprised by the sheer rock power of KARMA & EFFECT. Hundreds of shows and two additional permanent members have provided the band with a fully gelled sound that gives breathing room to massive guitar riffs and Shaun Morgan's brooding baritone voice. That said, the group's pop instincts are still in full effect; "Remedy" has a catchy Stone Temple Pilots-esque melody, while sections of "Plastic Man" sound like Nickelback covering Nick Drake. "The Gift" features a hip-hop-like beat underneath a world-weary vocal melody. "Given," however, is driven by a tectonic plate of a guitar lick worthy of Black Sabbath and Soundgarden. An overall heavier and more relaxed-sounding effort, KARMA & EFFECT is the sound of a band coming into it's own.
Seether: Shaun Morgan (vocals, guitar); Pat Callahan (guitar); Dale Stewart (bass guitar); John Humphrey (drums).

seether has evolved I feel that seether has evolved and matured, although not as many good songs as the first album, there is an audible difference in the music. I feel that this album is definately worth listening to. I listen to it on a daily basis. Submitted by tthatch1 (Pocahontas, AR, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
***** 5 More Stars!! The Best of lot!! Karma & Effect, is, If I HAD to say it, Seether's Best album yet! I mean, Disclaimer(II) was awesome with it's sheer, Raw, Rock Power, and Finding Beauty In Negative Spaces is a Very Catchy change of Pace, but there's just something about Karma & Effect that just Stands out more than the others. Maybe It's the Major Hit, Remedy, the song that Introduced me to the band, or maybe it's the fact that it's More Improved than Disclaimer(II) and Not " Strayed" to far into the Mainstream like the Present, Finding Beauty In Negative Spaces. Whatever it is, Karma & Efect is STILL An Awesome album and I Highly Recommend it to any TRUE Seether Fan out there! My Personal Favorite songs, are; Because of Me, Remedy, Truth, The Gift, Burrito, I'm the One, and Simplest Mistake. Hell Yeah!! Rock On Seether!! SEETHER KARMA AND EFFECT This album is the best I have ever heard. The guitars are great with many catchy riffs such as in the hit-"Remedy." However, this is not the only outstanding song as all the songs are simply overwhelming. They are all catchy with Shaun Morgan's awesome voice and the great guitars. Karma & Effect CD music
$8.99 A cursory listen to DISCLAIMER reveals a debt to such U.S. heavy rock bands as Papa Roach and Drowning Pool, no great shock since Seether producer Jay Baumgardner had previously worked with both of those bands. The surprising part is that this very American-sounding nu-metal band actually comes from South Africa. Their homeland is where the Dave Matthews Band comparisons abruptly end, though. Seether goes for the time-tested power-trio format that's served hard-hitting rock bands in good stead throughout the decades, from Mountain to Nirvana. Singer, songwriter, and guitarist Shaun Morgan ...

Karma & Effect songs
$15.89 Subtitled "psychedelia melts into the progressive," this 20-track compilation gathers 20 rare British and European tracks from 1969-1971 (mostly from the earlier part of that period), the period in which psychedelia was indeed changing into progressive rock in Europe. It's certainly been compiled with care; so rare are the cuts that you'll have a hard time finding them on other reissues, if indeed any have been reissued at all. Very few of the artists will be known even to seasoned collectors, other than perhaps Paul Nicholas (more famous as a British television star) and the Locomotive (most known for doing the original version of "Rudi, A Message to You," later covered for a hit by the Specials). Still, this is going to fit an awkward niche in the '60s/'70s collector world. There's not enough pop for many psychedelic enthusiasts, and some progressive enthusiasts might find at least some of this too pop-oriented. To be honest, though, this material, while far from objectionable, fits the cliché "obscure for a reason"; there aren't many outstanding songs here, other than Children's heavy rendition of "Piece of My Heart" (the same tune done by Erma Franklin and Big Brother & the Holding Company). Naturally, many of the traits that made this sort of rock "prog" are evident, like bulky songs with sections that varied from ...
