New York date doctor Alex Hitchens (Will Smith) tries to charm gossip columnist Sara Meals (Eva Mendes) at the same time he is coaching shy Albert (Kevin James) on how to win the love of beautiful heiress Allegra Cole (Amber Valletta). In Andy Tennant's (SWEET HOME ALABAMA, ANNA AND THE KING) delightful romantic comedy HITCH, Will Smith stars as Alex Hitchens, an urban "date doctor" who helps the common man woo the woman of his dreams. Hitch will use any means necessary--dance lessons, back waxing--to instill romantic confidence in his clientele. Why? He was once a lonely wallflower himself, who learned about love and heartbreak the hard way. His latest project, Albert Brennaman (Kevin James), may be his most difficult. Brennaman, a junior accountant prone to clumsiness, has fallen head-over-heels for one of his clients, Allegra Cole (Amber Valleta), a well-known celebrity. To complicate things further, Hitch's dating dogma is shaken when he meets and falls for a beautiful gossip columnist, Sara Melas (Eva Mendes), whose sharp wit easily pierces his cool façade. Conflict arises when Melas uncovers Hitch's true profession and blames him for her best friend being dumped.
HITCH is set in affluent hot spots around New York City, making for some splendid visuals. Tennant gets charming performances from all of his leads, especially James, who makes an amazing transition from television's KING OF QUEENS and nearly steals the spotlight from Smith with his talent for physical comedy. Nevertheless, James and Smith have excellent onscreen chemistry. Kevin Bisch's first script is full of clever, contemporary dialogue, alternately pointing out the silliness and the poignancy of love and dating. THEATRICAL RELEASE: FEBRUARY 11, 2005
Hitch Reviews: "Smith is a gifted comic actor, and seeing him in a lighthearted comedy, his first romantic lead, is a pure pleasure."-- Carina Chocano, Los Angeles Times "Mendes gives as good as she gets when bandying with Smith in her best screen role to date..."-- Mike Clark, USA Today "Smith is as disarming as any current Hollywood star, and he and feisty Mendes click like Grant and Russell in HIS GIRL FRIDAY."

Not bad Will Smith is alway's funny but this is not his best movie. Submitted by jtboonefootball (north carolina) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
LOVE IT I love that movie. It is funny from the beginning to the end. Before seeing it I thought it would be a little cheezy, but it wasn't. I loved all of the characters and the simple, but tasteful humor in the movie. Submitted by amh3157 (Columbus, GA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Nice Movie. Not a bad movie and Eva Mendes sure makes up for any shortcomings. She became one of my favorites after I watch Hitch the first time. She is a breathtaking beauty! Submitted by reviewer (North Carolina) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No This review is for a different format.
FUNNY AND A GOOD MOVIE! Will Smith was really good playing a dating expert on how to matchmake men and women relationships fall in love. I thought that Kevin James from TV's King Of Queens was hilarious and he would steel every scene in this movie. By being clumsy and making every mistake to himself of his own habits. Hitch film
$12.65 Raven Symone's time in the spotlight began at a ridiculously young age as the precocious three-year-old Olivia who repeatedly popped by the Huxtable household in the waning years of THE COSBY SHOW. Her recording career started similarly early, with the 1993 kiddie-rap record HERE'S TO NEW DREAMS. The talented actress/singer stayed in the public eye while growing up, and at age 18 she released her third record, THIS IS MY TIME. A long way from tracks like "First Day of School" and "Hip Hop Teddybear," Symone here offers up music that is sweet, melodic, and definitely mature R&B, in the vein of another singer who got her start as a kid on a popular TV show--Janet Jackson.
Symone opens smartly with the ...
| | Mind Of Mannie Fresh CD (2004)
Hitch review
$12.65 On THE MIND OF MANNIE FRESH, Fresh avails himself admirably as a rapper, layering sweet and often provocative rhymes over a variety of backing tracks of his own conception. On the breakbeat-boasting and Whodini-esque "Nothing Compares to Love" and the Al B. Sure!-interpolating "How We Ride," Fresh reminds the listener he was around in the early days of hip-hop, conjuring up the feel of times past. Mostly, however, Fresh's eyes are squarely focused on the future, with cutting-edge beats, particularly on "Chubby Boy" and the pulsating opening single, "Real Big."
Familiar to most of the rap world as half of Big Tymers, Mannie Fresh was active in hip-hop for years before dropping his solo debut, THE MIND OF MANNIE FRESH, in 2004. While Fresh didn't shy away from the mic as a member of the aforementioned Southern duo, his role was primarily as a DJ and an expert beat creator (a prolific one, at ...

Hitch DVD
$9.69 When audiences caught a glimpse of an alien skull mounted in the trophy cabinet of a Predator in the 1990 film PREDATOR 2, it seemed a franchise was about to be born. Sure enough, comic book artists immediately seized on the possibilities suggested by the brief scene, and a number of skirmishes between the deadly foes were played out on the printed page. Fans have had to endure a lengthy wait for a cinematic match-up, but writer-director Paul W.S. Anderson (EVENT HORIZON) has finally delivered the blood-splattered goods in ALIEN VS. PREDATOR. Set in the near future, a team of archaeologists lead by Charles Wiedland (Lance Henriksen, returning for more ALIEN action after appearances in the second and third films) ventures towards an inexplicable "hot zone" detected in Antarctica. Joined by Alexa Woods (Sanaa Lathan) and the requisite amount of human fodder for the otherworldly creatures to feast on, Wiedland and his cohorts discover a sizeable underground pyramid. Chaos ensues as they awake the Queen alien from her blissful slumber, causing face-hugging and chest-bursting scenes aplenty. But the ailing crew has a further quandary to grapple with in the shape of some fearsome Predators, ...

| | Seed Of Chucky DVD (2004) Widescreen; Subtitled; DTS Sound; Unrated
Hitch film
$8.79 Everyone's favorite plastic slasher doll, Chucky (voiced by Brad Dourif), returns for a fifth installment of this popular horror series. Apparently Chucky and his equally murderous bride, Tiffany (voiced by Jennifer Tilly), had a child, which has grown up in a cage as part of a heavy-metal ventriloquist act in England. Eventually it (one never learns its exact gender) escapes to Los Angeles to revive mom and pop, whose doll corpses are being used for a movie based on their previous killing spree. Jennifer Tilly shows up as herself, and she's great--hamming it up as a floozy actress so desperate for the part in rapper Redman's latest film that she lures him home for a casting couch tryst, with hilarious (and ...

$15.59 Don Coscarelli's BUBBA HO-TEP finds Elvis Presley (Bruce Campbell) alive but not so well, living in a small Texas nursing home. Although he's preoccupied with his ailments and his memories, the elderly Elvis befriends another resident who thinks he's John F. Kennedy (Ossie Davis) when they both begin to suspect that their neighbors aren't dying of natural causes. Their investigation leads to the discovery of an evil mummy with a fondness for cowboy gear and an appetite for the souls of senior citizens. Armed with little more than a walker and a wheelchair, the King and JFK must take on this ancient evil.
Based on a short story by Joe R. Lansdale, BUBBA HO-TEP mixes comedy, drama, and horror to create a remarkably quirky film. As the aged and ailing Elvis, Campbell gives an outstandingly funny and poignant performance, while Davis exudes intelligence and warmth as JFK. Although horror is a key element of the story, ...
