(1 Customer Review)
Brother Bones recorded one of the most recognizable songs of the 20th century; "Sweet Georgia Brown" yet remains a virtual unknown, overshadowed by his own hit record and the world famous basketball team, The Harlem Globetrotters, that adopted it as their official theme. Brother Bones was a one-time shoe shine boy; working at stands in the vestibules of local barbershops. While shining he would whistle, snap his shoeshine rag and pop his brushes in rhythm to records being played on an old Victrola. Brother Bones became known around town as "Whistling Sam". He would also tap dance and play teh bones and knives, perfecting a style which used four bones in each hand, whereas most bones players used only two. Acrobat. 2005. Globetrottin' With Bones
$16.79 Sun Ra (organ/electric vibraphone/space instruments/synthesizer/vocals) and his Intergalactic Space Research Arkestra are captured live in October of 1973 on this essential disc. Not only are the sides uniformly inspired, but the track list bears a few interesting diversions, including seminal examples of Ra as both a performer and unequaled arranger. The mid-tempo dreamy and languid opener, "Spontaneous Simplicity," evolves around Ra's sublime organ and electric vibe runs. He places those against an unforced and otherwise limber wash of hand percussion as well as the understated yet solid pulse of Ronnie Boykins' bass. Ra's emphatic electric organ inflections herald the introduction to what is arguably the most haunting and poignant reading of "Lights on a ...

Globetrottin' With Bones
$12.69 There's obviously nothing wrong with music being used for cell phone ring tones or anything, but it's worth mentioning that there's some music that sounds great as a 30 second sample and then there's stuff that works a whole lot better when played as a whole. Our songs, at least in our opinion, have much more to offer when ...
