Lost In Space - The Complete Third Season Vol. 2 DVD

 Silly waste of time
This is a typical Irwin Allen series. Each and every episode has somencritical part of the space ship break or else some fantastic creature menace the space family Robinson. I bought this and season 3 vol. 1 mainly for Angela Cartwright but the show was primarily about Will (Billy Mumy), Dr. Smith (Johnathan Harris) and a robot that is more emotional than a teen-age girl. Dr. Smith is an egomaniacal character that even the most patient and understanding person in the universe would clobber. He literally has me screaming for the alien (whichever one is on the particular episode) to do whatever is being threatened. Amazingly enough, in vol. 2 there are some interviews with both Mr. Mumy and Mr. Harris. Mr. Mumy comes across as a sincere man who had fun as a kid making the series. Mr. Harris however still seems to be in character 35 years later and comes across as an insufferable prig. I give it two stars because it is typical of its era.

 Favourite SCI FI Series
Lost In Space was always the thing to come home and watch after primary school and even into the early teens in the 70s and early 80s. At 4pm it was fun viewing for kids even when it was shown as repeats in Australia well and truly by that time. To go to school and laugh about the monsters and Dr Smith was always a special. The series still holds up as it takes on an all most fairy tale aspect at times. Never to be taken seriously, always good innocent fun for all ages, and really a great cast. The musical score is not only funny at times , but also sets the scene and was perfectly suited to this series. My all time favourite sci fi series. MO
