Suit Yourself album for sale by Shelby Lynne was released May 24, 2005 on the Capitol label. Shelby Lynne's 2003 album, IDENTITY CRISIS, was aptly named, as it saw Lynne move away from a big, lush, commercial radio-geared style to an earthier, stripped-down persona. SUIT YOURSELF takes this approach and runs with it, often sounding more like an impromptu late-night New York City singer/songwriter jam session than a product of the Nashville machine. Lynne's jazzy, loose vocal phrasing is in full effect, and her timbre is a bit huskier than before (perhaps due to the cigarettes she's seen holding in some of the album's photos). Singing with herself
The title. SUIT YOURSELF, can mean a number of things. Yes, it can refer to selfishness. There may be a trace of vanity in this recording--especially when considering the two very odd numbers: the distinctly noisy and unpleasant opening, GO WITH IT, and the short and mystifying YOU AND WE.

Miss Lynne's Georgia Drawl well in evidence here, more of her acoustic based rock. For me rather too much of the false starts/ studio talk/ demo tapes to take a great liking to, but I have only played it once, because of the above.
