Jingoistic bombast at its self-glorifying best
“Excess on occasion is exhilarating. It prevents moderation from acquiring the deadening effect of a habit.”
Grammy nominee or not, Boyer’s “Ellis Island: The Dream of America,” continues the tradition (or herd-like habit) of revisionist history to justify ultranationalistic rhetoric - sometimes called, baloney.
Mockingly, this recording expresses - through sugarcoated staged emotion - the idea of saving from destruction the value of immigration to this country. Immigration to America will forever be the light and hope some people struggle to achieve. Yet, today (as then) we’re still slamming the door shut on the raw talent of our world.
This nationalistic posturing of Boyer's, also shares a disrespectful mental attitude of the Ellis Island battle for many, who were not greeted with fireworks on their first arrival.
Acquire additional knowledge about the Ellis Island experience - which this recording is never aware of - before putting historical fact at risk. Submitted by windycorners (Los Angeles, CA, USA) Was This Review Helpful? YesNo 0 of 1 found this helpful.
