It was in June 1976 that an Air France plane carrying 244 passengers and a crew of 12 on a flight from Athens to Paris was hijacked by terrorists who forced the captain to alter course and eventually land at Uganda's Entebbe Airport. With the tacit approval of President Idi Amin, the Jewish passengers were held hostage and threatened with death if the Israeli government didn't comply with their captor's demand - to release 53 Palestinian so-called freedom fighters held in Israeli prisons. The world held its breath as the hours and minutes to the deadlines set by the terrorists ticked by. Based on actual events, this docudrama takes place in 1976 at Uganda's Entebbe Airport. A French plane, originally bound for Israel, is hijacked and forced to land at Entebbe. Israeli officials try to negotiate with the terrorists, but are hindered in their efforts by Uganda's infamous president, Idi Amin. With time running out, Israeli forces execute a daring, dangerous rescue mission to save the passengers -- and success is their only option... A well-made drama dealing with the daring raid by Israeli commandos on an Air France plane being held by terrorists in Uganda's Entebbe Airport. Made for television. "Raid on Entebbe" was Peter Finch's last film. Raid On Entebbe Movie Review Average Rating: (3.5 out of 5 stars) Raid on Entebbe I have it on DVD, but it's a poor reproduction put out by WHAM USA. (never heard of them). Supposedly digitally remastered and enhanced audio, it is neither. It is blurry.
I do not have it on video, but it's probably a better copy. Submitted by river (Baltimore, MD , USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 1 of 1 found this helpful.

Wish it was on DVD Both Raid on Entebbe and Victory at Entebbe were feel good movies for those who supported Israel in the late 70's. Thanks to Sharon, I've soured on Israel but would still love to see both these movies on DVD. The special effects aren't that significant, but as a Quasi Historical drama is worth the time. At $19.00, I'd like it on DVD but one has to consider that Victory at.. goes for far more and also only at obscure sites on VHS. Submitted by Ron (San Francisco) Was This Review Helpful? Raid On Entebbe video
$6.49 Possessing metal pipes like few before him, leonine Steelheart yelper Michael Matijevic scarred the airwaves forever when he hammered the simply unmatchable chorus of the hairball "I'll Never Let You Go": ludicrous and sublime, akin to Whitney Houston hitting the hot spot in "I Will Always Love You." The opening strands of "Everybody Loves Eileen" bring Ratt out of the cellar before the cut curls into a pop n' fresh roller coaster ride. The remainders on this ridiculous dish are also overlong examples of excess but not as memorable, paying homage to Whitesnake and other flailing stylistic ventures. "I'll Never Let You Go" is available on some quality collections and no aficionado of poodle pomp should let that song go, otherwise leave Steelheart in peace with the music it helped lay to rest. ~ Doug Stone

Raid On Entebbe DVD
$10.49 DRUMS ALONG THE MOHAWK is John Ford's first film in Technicolor (which recently perfected far richer shadings of color than had previously been possible), and the director uses it to stunning effect. The film stars Henry Fonda as Revolutionary War-era farmer Gilbert Martin, who, in 1776, has returned with his well-born wife, Lana (Claudette Colbert), to his rustic cabin in the increasingly dangerous Mohawk River valley. At first unaccustomed to the harsh physical challenges of frontier life, ...

Raid On Entebbe video
$8.79 Pop culture sponges Edgar Wright, Simon Pegg, and Nick Frost team up again for HOT FUZZ, their follow-up to the surprise hit movie SHAUN OF THE DEAD. HOT FUZZ follows a near-identical formula to its predecessor, simply replacing the various homages to horror movies by heaping on the adulation for action flicks such as POINT BREAK and BAD BOYS II (both of which are referenced throughout). The plot finds outstanding London-based police officer Nicholas Angel (Pegg) transplanted to a rural English village. On arrival, Angel teams up with the oaf-like PC Danny Butterman (Frost) and together they investigate a series of mysterious murders, all of which are classed as "accidents" by the increasingly strange townsfolk.
Director Wright combines gory set-pieces with traditional action-movie staples: mustachioed detectives in sunglasses, corny one-liners, rapid machine-gun fire, and blood-spattered fight scenes all feature heavily. References to other movies come thick and fast throughout, and HOT FUZZ will have film fans' memories working overtime as they try to catch all ...
