"One of Australia's true innovative talents" Allan Zavod, ex Frank Zappa Band."Noemi's blend of soft grooves and spiritual themes are already attracting a strong following..." Michael Duffy, The Advertiser Adelaide.Freefall is a long awaited musical debut. It reveals Noemi Liba as a sophisticated and daring song writer/performer whose compositions are sumptuous and intelligent, visceral and cerebral. Her lyrics are an honest, direct poetry, encased in lush musical soundscape; visual, sensual and highly evocative. Inspired by the expansive worlds of Middle Eastern, Jazz, String Quartet Chamber Music and Trance, Noemi has created a new musical space.Vocally, Noemi manoeuvres effortlessly between husky and pure sounds, between the spoken and soaring melodically, exploring dynamic possibilities of voice. Noemi has enchanted audiences in six languages, across Australia, in the U.S.A and the Middle East. Her performances solo and in various contemporary Middle Eastern music ensembles such as Kesh and Hadassah have established her reputation as an intimate and uniquely passionate live artist, who has been equally at home performing at the Melbourne Concert Hall, as a guest soloist at the Vodaphone Arena, at music festivals and intimate clubs. Though she has been writing and performing music since 1992, Noemi completed an Advanced Diploma of Music Performance (Jazz and Contemporary) at NMIT, Melbourne in 2002 and has since studied with Yair Dalal (Israel), Allan Zavod, Christine Sullivan and Michelle Nicole. In addition to her music pursuits, Noemi has a double degree in Literature and Philosophy, is a painter and has also published a volume of poetry. She also works as a Music Therapist with people with Brain Injury. Noemi Liba Freefall Songs | 1. | Too Late |

Freefall
$13.14 Dutch pomp-metal band Epica, fronted by classically trained mezzo-soprano Simone Simons, released their second album for Nuclear Blast only a year after their label debut, the more unique The Classical Conspiracy. That two-disc live set found them performing a mix of classical works and their own songs with backing by a full orchestra and choir. This album offers more of their bombastic goth metal songs, with Simons' vocals floating atop an ever flowing stream of complicated drumming, epic riffs, and shredtastic solos. The use of orchestral instruments to add John Williams-like climaxes is intermittently successful, but the music is just as frequently stripped down to an unaccompanied ...
| | Al Jolson Great CD (1996) (Import) Netherlands
Freefall
$10.49 Although Jolson was America's first great pop star, finding his original recordings -- the ones that set the pace for modern singing and performing -- is extremely problematic; most compilations out on CD simply regurgitate the later re-recordings he made of his old hits, most of them done with one lung and sung four keys lower than the originals. So this budget 16-track collection would seem to be a nice addition, as it heralds ...
| | Tony Scherr Come Around CD (2002)
Freefall
$11.59 Tony Scherr has had a career as one of New York's most sought-after jazz bassists. He has played with the Lounge Lizards, Jesse Harris & the Ferdinandos, Bill Frisell, Sex Mob, and Slowpoke, to name a few. But Come Around, Scherr's solo debut, is something else entirely. With crunchy guitars, Chris Brown's Hammond organ, and horn and string arrangements, Scherr has crafted a warm album of country-tinged rock songs that glances back at the Rolling Stones' Beggars Banquet and Let It Bleed in the same way that Alejandro Escovedo's underappreciated A Man Under the Influence does. Sure, Scherr's tunes tend to ramble and meander more, without the instant gratification of the Stones or Escovedo, but this gives them a quality like the pop work of Jim O'Rourke and even the dark, off-kilter, David Lynch-worthy experimentation of "What Kind of Friend Are You" is incredibly rewarding. The title track, with its pure '70s country-rock groove, is the real winner and is ready and waiting for a Ryan Adams cover. ...
| | Marc Antoine Mediterraneo CD (2003)
Freefall
$14.09 Guitarist and composer Marc Antoine is like Ottmar Liebert with teeth. He's an amazingly gifted guitarist who plays in flamenco and Latin jazz styles with equal grace and aplomb, and his recordings are slick, sweet, and lean heavily on the smooth jazz tip. That said, on Mediterraneo, his seventh album, there is some real fire in both material and playing. Like Oscar Lopez, Antoine goes for the heart of a particular piece of music in his soloing, and when he finds it, despite the arrangement, production, or textured ambience, he doesn't let go; he wrestles with it until it gives up every ounce of emotion and meaning it can muster. The title cut, with its gloriously languid drum program and Antoine's transcendent melody that comes across as a stunningly moving chanted prayer, is overwhelming in its melodic invention. On the opener, "Cubanova," a son rhythm track crosses a samba and Antoine's extended chord voicings create a tough yet airy backdrop for his in-the-pocket soloing. Keyboards by Frederic Gaillardet offer a washed soundscape that is reminiscent of piercing blue skies and sanguine ocean waves. The laid-back funky "Afromenco" ...
