Yes, there's an echo in here -- the Backyard Babies obviously wanted to stress the point when naming this raucous, unpolished live album Live Live in Paris. Recorded in the City of Light during the Swedish hard rockers' 2004 tour, the disc collects 16 uniformly turbocharged performances of fabulous album hits like "Earn the Crown," "The Clash," "Made Me Madman," "Star War," and "Minus Celsius," to name but a few. Frontman Nicke Borg enjoys a constant, witty, but succinct rapport throughout with La Maroquinere's paying customers, wasting few words where hip-shaking, neck-snapping, boot-kicking, electrifying music will more than suffice. And lead guitarist Dregen can always be counted to drive the quartet's instrumental assault with disciplined but exuberantly intuitive chops. Fans unfamiliar with the Backyard Babies may prefer to start their education with the studio-based Tinnitus collection, but there's no denying that Live Live in Paris, too, contains a track listing very worthy of a greatest-hits set. Either way, you can't go wrong or be too early where the Backyard Babies are concerned -- they are rock & roll. ~ Eduardo Rivadavia

Live Live In Paris album
$11.35 NIGHT CASTLE appears just in time for the big 2009 holiday season but don't be fooled: this isn't a Christmas album, even if it's sonically indistinguishable from Trans-Siberian Orchestra's other seasonal releases, and the fact that it's been dubbed "Capra-esque" certainly brings it within the realm of the season. NIGHT CASTLE brims with all the drama, pomp, and circumstance of Trans-Siberian Orchestra's other records but channeling these traits through a newly created narrative does have the effect of hearing it in a somewhat new light, shifting the focus entirely to the band's attack, not melody. Still, there's not that much new here -- and the coda of seasonal covers, including ...

Live Live In Paris CD music
$13.39 Pink Martini follow the around-the-world-in-a-dozen-songs thrills of HEY EUGENE! with SPLENDOR IN THE GRASS, a mellower, simpler set of small pleasures. These are relative terms, however; the group's music is still well-traveled, with China Forbes singing in five languages (English, Spanish, Neapolitan, French, and Italian) instead of the six or so on EUGENE!. However, Pink Martini opt for a more unified sound here, one that draws on the more straightforward lounge-pop of their debut, SYMPATHIQUE, and the mellowness of '60s and '70s pop. SPLENDOR IN THE GRASS' first half is especially smooth, opening with the beautifully soft Neapolitan ballad "Ninna Nanna" and the title track, on which Forbes sings "I think we should take it slow" over swooping strings, brass, and piano that resurrect the glory days of AM pop; that feeling is echoed by the cover of Joe Raposo's "Sing," the Sesame Street song ...

$12.59 SELFMEYIBeing the first artist releasing on Itsadogs World Records, Selfmeyi is gearing up to take the music scene by storm. At age24, the Detroit native strives to convey a strong sense of individuality in today's monotonous world of Hip Hop. Hailing from a mixed background of urban and suburban life, the artistically inclined and moderately conscious rapper uses a "both sides of the fence" sort of approach with his music. Fusing Hip Hop, alternative rock, and a pinch of classical music to form his unique sound. Selfmeyi uses thought provoking rhymes and entertaining tales of overcoming and appreciation of one's self-worth. With his choice lyrics, extreme versatility, and infectious hook writing ability Selfmeyi is poised and destined to be among Hip Hop's juggernauts.DaMar Jackson (Selfmeyi) first discovered he had talent with writing rhymes after he wrote an English assignment in the form of a rap in fifth grade. From that point he began developing his skill, rapping on a regular basis about his life and other interest. By the time he was in high school, DaMar became known amongst his peers as "that kid with mad flow". But it wasn't until his 11th grade talent show that he realized he wanted to pursue a career rapping in the Hip Hop Industry. He and a close friend completed a demo and began to pursue a deal as a duo. Slight success came when the two were on the brink of landing a production deal with 2000 Watts and Relativity Records. Unfortunately the deal never manifested due to label complications. With his incomparable drive, DaMar decided to work even harder at his dream of superstardom. The decision was made to turn the duo to a four-man group called the Boogie Knights. During his time with the Boogie knights he performed in the Electric Kringle Jingle (featuring ...
