| | Halford III: Winter Songs CD (2009) Special Edition; Digipak
Wither CD music
$13.58 At first glance, Halford's entry into the crowded holiday market looks like a parody. Heavy metal and Christmas make for strange bedfellows, and WINTER SONGS' pastoral cover art -- which depicts Rob Halford staring wistfully (with a goatee and shades) into a soft, snowy pine forest -- screams Spinal Tap. That said, the Judas Priest frontman approaches yuletide standards like "We Three Kings" and "What Child Is This?" with the same conviction that he applied to Priest classics like "Electric Eye" and "Freewheel Burning" -- it probably helps that most traditional Christmas hymns tend to fall into the same brooding minor keys that serve as ...
| | Lita Ford Wicked Wonderland CD (2009) Bonus Tracks
Wither music CDs
$14.19 Though former Runaways guitarist Lita Ford has been absent from the recording industry since 1997, she hasn't exactly been idle. After releasing Kiss Me Deadly, her final album after a string of them in the '80s and '90s, the music scene -- and the industry with it -- changed, and alternative ruled the airwaves. Ford got married to Jim Gillette, former vocalist with hair metal rockers Nitro, and started a family. In addition, she relocated to the Caribbean. Wicked Wonderland is uncharacteristic of the pop-metal she released a decade ago. It's an in-your-face metal record, but ultimately it's a very studied and calculated 21st century pop-metal record. It's an album with explicit sexual content, examining S&M, bondage, power exchanges, and all manner of kink and crave in lyrics, words, and sleeve images. Ford wrote all of these songs with her co-producers Greg Hampton and Gillette. Gillette is also either a duet partner or backing vocalist on every track here. Hampton handles bass, keyboard, and other sonic duties, and there are a pair of drummers who alternate in Chris Collier and Stet Howland. The album's first single (and longest track), "Bed," was released exclusively to Stockroom.com, one of the leading suppliers of S&M and bondage gear on the internet. Ford claims that she and her husband have carved out a path to a happy family life, and it does seem that they detail it on this recording. Musically, while Wicked Wonderland is harder, edgier, darker, and more visceral than anything she's released in the past, this is still a very pop-oriented heavy music recording. The songs have hooks ...

Wither CD music
$6.49 Digitally remastered by Joseph M. Palmaccio (Sterling Sound, New York, New York).
September 18, 1983 is a day that will go down in Kisstory. It was then that Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons, and replacement members Vinnie Vincent and Eric Carr took off their signature makeup and revealed themselves on MTV. LICK IT UP was released, and a new chapter unfolded.
Using the same production team as CREATURES OF THE NIGHT, Michael James Jackson, Simmons and Stanley came up with the same bone crunching sound as CREATURES, but with a slightly more polished feel. "Exciter" kicks off the album with a machine gun riff, which leads into Gene Simmons proclaiming he's "Not For The Innocent". The title track was a modest hit in the U.S., faired better in the U.K. and made for quite an entertaining video. "All Hell's Breakin' Loose" is a gritty streetwise track where Paul Stanley actually raps! "And On The 8th Day" ...

Wither songs
$13.29 About the album:The 10-track album comes with a running time of about 49 minutes. Cover artwork was submitted by Frank Forte, who may be known from several Asylum Press Comic releases.About the band:It all began in 1999, when, some years after having played with some other musicians who later on founded SARX, Erik started beginning to create his own musical ideas. First steps lead into a sort-of Gotenborg-style music, but quite some time (or songs) later, Erik's music developed into what would become XORDEAL. Inspired by bands like HYPOCRISY (an influence which can be definitely heard), KATATONIA and EDGE OF SANITY, but also stuff like DEPECHE MODE, he began creating dark atmospheric, but nevertheless powerful songs. The kick start happened in late 2000, when Erik, after having had some rather painful personal experiences, was able to conduct these into music. Within the next months all of the songs for "Introspective" came to be. Also, in the early months of 2001, the name XORDEAL was established. After finishing his studies to become an audio engineer and getting his life back on track again, Erik started re-recording the ten songs which had already been recorded as demos, but were never released. Within one month he did all the drum and synth programming, playing guitars, and screeching and grunting his guts out. During that time he was supported by Björn and Alf as assistant engineers, and both of them were so enthusiastic about the material that they asked him to evolve the project to a real band. The drummer's place was filled by Marc, and the guys were ready to kick ass live ...
