The Number Twelve Looks Like You: Jesse Korman (vocals); Michael Smagula (bass guitar); Christopher Conger (drums); Justin Pedrick, Jamie McIlroy, Alexis Pareja.
An ineffectual combination of math rock and grindcore, the Number Twelve Looks Like You's full-length debut is even more irritating than their pretentiously meaningless band name. The songs function like Burroughs-ian cut-ups, shifting helter-skelter between time signatures and tempos so awkwardly that the resulting songs sound like someone threw a bunch of rehearsal tape shards on the ground and then edited them back together willy-nilly. That description makes it sound much more intriguing than the album actually is, however; for all the random stylistic and arrangement shifts, the base materials are simply the same post-hardcore and emo riffs that hundreds of other, better, bands have already run into the ground. And that doesn't even begin to address the problem of mono-named singer Jase, who may well be the single most annoying singer of the current underground scene. Ever hear a small yappy dog whose tail someone has accidentally stepped on? Translate that incoherent, hyperactive shrillness into human speech and that only begins to describe how completely irritating and obnoxious this guy's voice is. Only the most indiscriminate underground hipster kid could even pretend not to find Nuclear. Sad. Nuclear. a complete waste of time. ~ Stewart Mason
Personnel: Justin Pedrick (vocals); Jamie McIlroy, Alexis Pareja (guitar).
Audio Mixer: D. James Goodwin.

Nuclear-Sad-Nuclear album
$10.39 Principally recorded at The Theater Studio & Mindswerve, New York, New York.
Mindless Self Indulgence's brilliantly named The Frankenstein Girls Will Seem Strangely Sexy collects more of the group's outré, hip-hop-tinged industrial thrash. Singer Urine's bizarre falsetto sounds like a sped-up Jello Biafra, especially on tracks like "Boomin'" and "I Hate Jimmy Page." The album's 30 songs -- which sport titles like "Dicks Are for ...
| | Steelheart CD (1991)
Nuclear-Sad-Nuclear CD music
$6.49 Possessing metal pipes like few before him, leonine Steelheart yelper Michael Matijevic scarred the airwaves forever when he hammered the simply unmatchable chorus of the hairball "I'll Never Let You Go": ludicrous and sublime, akin to Whitney Houston hitting the hot spot in "I Will Always Love You." The opening strands of "Everybody Loves Eileen" bring Ratt out of the cellar before the cut curls into a pop n' fresh roller coaster ride. The remainders on this ridiculous dish are also overlong examples of excess but not as memorable, paying homage to Whitesnake and other flailing stylistic ventures. "I'll Never Let You Go" is available on some quality collections and no aficionado of poodle pomp should let that song go, otherwise leave Steelheart in peace with the music it helped lay to rest. ~ Doug Stone

Nuclear-Sad-Nuclear songs
$9.79 This is a collection of NOFX tracks from various compilations, 7"s and EPs, plus a previously unreleased song and dub remix.
NOFX are masters of the punk ethic of self-deprecation, and it begs the question if they truly realize the mark they have made on the history of modern hardcore. After 18 years, the band that sums up its musical prowess humbly as "good," releases a staggering collection of B-sides, compilation tracks, and rare cuts (many of which were previously long out-of-print in their original 7" pressings).
A cover of the Seymour Simons standard "All Of Me" sets the ...

f you asked the six members of this band how The Number Twelve got started, you would get six different stories. However, a few things remain consistent. One thing that is a known fact is that The Number Twelve Looks Like You is a real band, and the members of this band live in New Jersey. They might have formed sometime around 2001, but some skeptics might lead you to believe differently. The Number Twelve is made up of an eclectic collection of musicians ...

Nuclear-Sad-Nuclear album
$9.89 As the title implies, this collection rounds up Creedence Clearwater Revival's most country-tinged tunes. However, many of these songs, recorded between 1969 and 1972, are "country" only in their rural themes, since CCR was always a no-frills rock & roll band above anything else. "Lookin' for a Reason" bears the familiar twang of a classic country tune, ...
