As a club-hopping kid in Chicago in the 1980s, Ryan Raddon (aka Kaskade) was right there in the delivery room when house music was born. He adopted house as his musical home and subsequently moved to Salt Lake City, UT, helping to build the burgeoning house scene in that city in the early '90s, then eventually settling down in San Francisco. Bargrooves: Manhattan songs This is a continuous in-the-mix CD compiled & mixed by Bruno Ybarra & DJ Mauricio Aviles. Though the second Nude Dimensions volume doesn't depart too far from the first volume, neither in terms of track selection nor mixing, this mix by Mauricio Aviles is nonetheless nothing short of wonderful; a welcome addition to the series that should delight anyone who has enjoyed any of the other Nude Dimensions volumes. Much like the other volumes, this mix begins with a few great vocal tracks -- Bougie Soliterre's "Superficial," the Petalpusher vocal mix of Blue Six's "Pure," the dub mix of Undercover Agency's "I Need You in My Life," and the Petalpusher dub mix of Aquanote's "True Love" -- before heading into more unpredictable territory halfway through. It's futile to debate whether this is a better mix than its predecessor or its successor in the Nude Dimensions series; all are wonderful mixes that sound very similar, both in terms of track selection ...

Bargrooves: Manhattan buy CD music Yet another Bargrooves release, one among many. Like the others, Bargrooves: Cosmopolitan is comprised of fashionable packaging and two discs of laid-back house music mixed by Ben Sowton and a guest DJ, in this particular case Rollercone. If you're into this sort of house music (perhaps most comparable to the Naked Music series of mixes -- or if you really want to narrow it down and tag it, West Coast house), there's plenty to enjoy here. The mixing is unobtrusive and the tracks are smooth without exception, with some sexy vocal numbers coming in every so often. The thing is, it's hard to keep count of these Bargrooves mixes. You'd think Sowton and company were churning them out on an assembly line, given the frequency of release and the similarity of one to the next. While none of these are poor per se, none are exceptional, either. Heard one, heard them all for the most part.
