Such soul-bearing is the norm with the aptly titled NAKED, on which the former Immature singer explores his thoughts in an absolutely exposed manner. A majority of the tracks find Houston in a mellow mood, with one thing on his mind--love. Throughout the album, he glorifies love ("All Because of You"), worries about its effects ("Marriage"), and regrets his wrongdoing ("Cheat"). In the rare moments he kicks into energetic mode, as on "12 O'Clock" (featuring Joe Budden), the results are equally appealing. NAKED reveals a maturing vocalist in touch with his emotions.
On "All Because of You," the opening track and first single from Marques Houston's sophomore solo album, NAKED, the youthful R&B singer portrays the ultimate image of the sensitive man, earnestly imploring his love for her hand in matrimony. Two tracks later, "Marriage" finds Houston confessing he's unready for commitment, that the sacrament changes "nothing but your name." These contradictory feelings shine through Houston's impassioned, powerful vocals, inviting the listener into his conflicted heart.
Personnel: Marques Houston (vocals); Dame, Joe Budden, Rufus Blaq, Young Rome (rap vocals); Cory Bold (various instruments); The Corna Boys (keyboards, programming); Adonis Stropshire, RaRa, Tank , Durrell Babbs, Pierre Medor (background vocals).

Purchase Naked CD To buy, Click on price to add to cart | Dazz Band 20th Century Masters: The Millennium Collection CD (2001)
Naked album
$6.75 Originally released on Motown Records. Includes liner notes by A. Scott Galloway.
An 11-song snapshot of the Dazz Band's Motown stint that includes the not-often-featured "To the Roof," whose origins date back to "Take It to the Woof" by Cleveland, OH-based funk band Morning Maniac led by ex-Dazz Band member Kenny Pettus who's the lead voice on the Earth, Wind and Fire-ish "I Might As Well Forget About Loving You." But other than that, there are no surprises, just straight-ahead digitally remastered Dazz Band blasts that blow you away in CD format ("Let It Whip"'s bassline is hypnotizing). For lovers, "Invitation to Love" and "Knock, Knock" are bonafide heart stirrers and the only two slow jams in the bunch. Not as complete as the 1994 Funkology: The Definitive Dazz Band but dazzling enough. ~ Andrew Hamilton

| | R Kelly TP.3: Reloaded CD (2005) Bonus DVD; Limited Edition
Naked CD music
$8.99 The rest of the album provides thirteen tracks of Kelly's typically strong and sensual modern R&B. He starts off the record with a reminder that he's far from a one-note artist, coming on as hard as anyone with the anthemic single "Playa's Club," then rolls into a 1970s groove with help from the always-spectacular Snoop Dogg on "Happy Summertime," before easing into a set of slow jams highlighted by the lusty "In the Kitchen" and the breezy "Slow Wind." As much as R. Kelly can't seem to stop getting himself into trouble, he also can't stop releasing original, arousing albums. TP.3 is no exception.
Even with the endless controversy surrounding him, R. Kelly never slowed down, ever-ready to take more and more chances. This album's 15-minute final cut, "Trapped in the Closet," was easily the most ambitious undertaking the Chicago native had undertaken in his two decades ...
| | Charlie Wilson Charlie, Last Name Wilson CD (2005)
Naked music CDs
$8.99 When former Gap Band vocalist Charlie Wilson appeared on Snoop Dogg's "Signs" with Justin Timberlake, the 2004 track gave the Oklahoma native the widest exposure since his funk group's late-1970s/early-'80s glory days. In 2005, Wilson followed up on this momentum with the solo disc CHARLIE, LAST NAME WILSON, a potent dose of contemporary R&B that features production work by R. Kelly. Though much of the album is straight-up R&B/soul, it does stop in hip-hop territory, most notably on the steamy "So Hot" and the defiant "You Got Nerve" (with a guest shot by Snoop). Two other highlights reveal the smooth-voiced Wilson's range--"No Words" is ...

| | Anthony Hamilton Ain't Nobody Worrying CD (2005)
Naked album
$9.59 After the success of his 2003 album, COMIN' FROM WHERE I'M FROM, R&B/soul singer Anthony Hamilton followed up in earnest during 2005, first with a collection of previously unreleased tunes, SOULIFE, and then with another new studio record, AIN'T NOBODY WORRYIN'. This latter disc truly solidifies Hamilton's sterling reputation; it's an utterly confident outing that nods to 1970s soul music without being beholden to the style of that era. In fact, Hamilton's deft balancing of both vintage soul and contemporary production is what helps the expressive vocalist stand out in the crowd. Rather than calling up his R&B/rap peers for guest shots, Hamilton largely goes in alone on this solid record, allowing superstar producer Mark Batson and others to create organic backdrops that perfectly showcase his undeniable talent.

| | Avant Director CD (2006)
Naked CD music
$11.99 R&B crooner Avant is as smooth as ever on DIRECTOR, but this time around his emotive, passionate vocal stylings are supported by cutting-edge production that's sharper than ever. While Avant is not averse to getting down and dirty when the situation arises, he's a romantic at heart, and many of the tunes here find ...
| | Donna Summer Live And More CD (1978)
Naked music CDs
$6.55 In 1978, the idea of a live disco album seemed almost laughable; that the album was by Donna Summer, whose studio creations were polished to a futuristic gloss never seen before by producer/writers Giorgio Moroder and Pete Bellotte, seemed downright ludicrous. The naysayers forgot, however, that Donna Summer possessed ...

| | Linkin Park Live In Texas CD (2003) With DVD; Digipak
Naked CD music
$15.65 Recorded live at Reliant Stadium, Houston, Texas on August 2, 2003 and at Texas Stadium, Irving, Texas on August 3, 2003.
Linkin Park's third album (not including the remix project, REANIMATION) is their first live effort, recorded in 2003 on their Metallica and Limp Bizkit-accompanied Summer Sanitarium tour. Showcasing material from their previous two albums, HYBRID THEORY and METEORA, it works well both as a semi-greatest hits set and a useful stopgap for diehard fans. LIVE IN TEXAS finds Linkin Park tighter and more powerful than ever on songs such as the incendiary "One Step Closer" and the pop-metal hybrid "Numb."
The band's trademark amalgam of metal, pop, and hip-hop translates well to this live setting, with Mike Shinoda's growling vocals contrasting even more sharply with Chester Bennington's rather angelic pipes. Linkin Park's melodic, roiling choruses, with their frequent angular pauses before jumping straight back into the aural mosh pit, are ideally suited to ...

| | Mad Mike Monsters, Vol. 2 CD (2008)
Naked songs
$13.05 In an era when Clear Channel-owned stations play the same 30 corporate-approved pop hits over and over in a never-ending loop, it seems impossible to believe there was ever a place in radio for DJs like Pittsburgh icon Mad Mike Metrovich. Guys like Metrovich were the motor-mouthed heralds of a new teen culture, larger-than-life tastemakers and soothsayers whose quirks and sensibilities profoundly shaped the musical landscape as far as the station signal carried. Mad Mike was a particularly compelling character by any metric, with his WZUM show virtually ignoring the British Invasion in favor of local hits, rockabilly classics, and R&B scorchers that championed a raw, dynamic sound presaging the emerging garage rock scene. (Further bolstering his anti-authoritarian stance, Metrovich ...
