Five youths set out for a weekend camping excursion to drink, frolic, and skinny-dip on an isolated piece of land one of them has inherited. Despite ominous warnings from local forest rangers, strange backwoods families, and a hollering drunken hunter claiming to have witnessed his friend's evisceration by the hands of demons, they trek farther into the foliage. Jeff Lieberman, the man behind the cult film SQUIRM, directs the woodlands slasher flick JUST BEFORE DAWN. Similar to the latter-day WRONG TURN, JUST BEFORE DAWN features a group of city slickers slowly being massacred by an inbred, deformed country dweller. When some friends enter the woodlands for some rest and relaxation, they foolishly disregard the warnings of the local sheriff and a mad man who cries about demons in the forest. However, they soon regret their decision as a powerful, crazed killer begins stalking and killing them one-by-one for invading "his" woods. Just Before Dawn Movie Review Average Rating: (3.8 out of 5 stars)  Above average teens-in-the-woods slasher
It's the classic story: teenagers in camper van being bumped off by maniacal mountain men, but this one's better than most. It's a fine reissue and was worth waiting for; it's worth buying for the occasional armchair-based woodland nightmare, while disc two contains exhaustive extra features.

To be honest, it's not the best horror or slasher movie i have seen.
The concept is good. I like a lot the environment where they play, and the killer is very hot!
But, the movie is a less boring...in the way that there's not a lot of gore
blood or action.
Unless, i'm happy that i have bought this movie after all. He have a good place in my collection.
And, if you want to see a very good slasher movie, buy ''Intruder''. It's just came out on dvd. There's a story, a lot of blood and gore and also Sam raimi and Bruce Campbell!

 As good as I remembered
I saw this movie when it first was shown on tv and I thought it was great.
I think it is probably one of the earliest slasher movies( before Freddy and Michael). I looked forever trying to find it to buy but was unssuccessful
until now.The ending is truly scary.

My wife enjoyed this more than I did. Quite slow paced not much gore and about as scary as a PG13. Watchable, there are worse ways to spend an hour and a half, I think!

One of the best 80's slashers ever!
I've been waiting for this DVD release for a long time. I know another certain studio made efforts to release this film, but had a difficult time finding a decent negative of film. And what great extras. Stars George Kennedy (Naked Gun, Creepshow) and Mike Kellin (Sleepaway Camp). Predecessor of "Wrong Turn". This film is a classic with beautiful shots, great sequences, and an awesome ending. Highly recommended! Check it out!
