Knowing that COMMIT THIS TO MEMORY was produced by Blink 182's Mark Hoppus, some listeners might assume that Motion City Soundtrack numbers among the scores of Blink clones who emerged in the wake of Hoppus and crew's massive 1990s success. MSC, however, places far more emphasis on the pop half of the pop-punk equation than their Orange County counterparts. Often sounding as if they draw inspiration as much from the Outfield as from the Descendents, the group tempers it's raging guitars and pounding drums with a firm grasp of melody, and strong vocals delivered with a decided lack of snotty punk attitude. In addition, singer Justin Pierre's voice frequently bears a strong resemblance to that of Colin Hay from Men At Work (particularly on "When You're Around"). Lyrically, Motion City Soundtrack takes a cue from the no-holds-barred honesty of emo, but with more emphasis on craft. On "Together We'll Ring in the New Year" Pierre's pipes are clear and honest, riding over bed of clean, ringing guitars with the same wistful end-of-the-party elegance that characterized Semisonic's classic "Closing Time."

CMJ (No. 912, p.7) - "[The Minneapolis band] moves easily from spiky guitar crunchers to more anthemic tracks that drop new wave hints now and again." Commit This To Memory Music Motion City Commit This To Memory Songs | 1. | Attractive Today |

WOW! this cd is great. like their last, but with a little more sparkle and more emotion. some of my faves are hangman, hold me down, feel like rain,..... uh, i like the whole cd. the guitar and the moog compliment each other, rather than drown each other out. and justin's voice is beautiful. i'm not very descriptive, am i? you'll have to see what it's like for yourself!!! trust me...... Perfect It's completely perfect from the very first second of Attractive Today to the last noises in Hold Me Down. Every song is distinct, both musically and lyrically. They are extremely good at putting dark lyrics to light music, and this is something that makes the cd completely timeless. I could never, ever get tired of it. Commit This To Memory CD music
$11.39 Been Where? Did What? is a collection of early demos, outtakes, and rarities from Tilt. Compared to most of the Fat Wreck Chords acts, the tough yet mature female vocals contrast sharply. The things that are not different are the lots of pop hooks and melodic punk anthems. Some of the stuff on here is really nifty, including the cover of "Where in the World Is Carmen San Diego" and "Theme From the Dukes of Hazzard" but, after a time, the female ...

Commit This To Memory music CDs
$13.29 Die Form's main man, Phillipe Fichot, has 20 years of recording behind him and it's pleasing to hear how far he's come from the band's early, rawboned recordings. Part one of a diptych dealing with man's relationship to the animal world that will be completed by Exhuman, Inhuman contains some of Die Form's most vivid mixes of the industrial and the operatic. Drum machines sound huge, the structures of the songs are stunning, and the alternating between Eliane ...
