Flynn brings his trademark dashing charisma to the role of the justice-seeking sheriff, and Olivia de Havilland is both tough and lovely as Hatton's ally and love interest. The film also features one of the liveliest bar room brawls in cinematic history. Color by Technicolor.

$22.29 In Michael Curtiz's swashbuckling spectacle about the infamous outlaw and his band of merry men who "robbed from the rich and gave to the poor," Robin Hood (Errol Flynn) fights nobly for justice against the evil Sir Guy of Gisbourne (Basil Rathbone) while striving to win the hand of the beautiful Maid Marian (Olivia de Havilland).

| | Captain Blood DVD (1935) Full Frame; Dubbed; Subtitled
Dodge City DVD
$14.85 In the classic swashbuckling epic that catapulted him to worldwide stardom, Errol Flynn plays Dr. Peter Blood, an English physician unjustly convicted of treason and sentenced to slavery in the West Indies. Relying on his formidable nerve and wit, he escapes and soon becomes a feared pirate known as Captain Blood, a brilliant swordsman and seaman whose fiercely loyal crew is made up of runaway slaves grateful to him for winning their freedom.
Olivia de Havilland, in the first of eight films starring opposite Flynn, is alluring as Arabella Bishop, the dashing pirate captain's romantic interest. Lionel Atwill, famed for his demented performances in horror films, is satisfyingly despicable as Arabella's uncle, a despotic plantation owner. Director Michael Curtiz (CASABLANCA) pulls no dramatic punches, filling the screen with thrilling battle scenes, stampeding horses, hurtling, wave-tossed ships, and a rousing Erich Wolfgang Korngold score to make CAPTAIN BLOOD a truly lavish seafaring odyssey. Flynn, only five years removed from piloting a daring four-man, seven-month boat trip from Sydney, Australia, to New Guinea (described ...
| | Drums Along The Mohawk DVD (1939)
Dodge City movie DVD
$10.55 DRUMS ALONG THE MOHAWK is John Ford's first film in Technicolor (which recently perfected far richer shadings of color than had previously been possible), and the director uses it to stunning effect. The film stars Henry Fonda as Revolutionary War-era farmer Gilbert Martin, who, in 1776, has returned with his well-born wife, Lana (Claudette Colbert), to his rustic cabin in the increasingly dangerous Mohawk River valley. At first unaccustomed to the harsh physical challenges of frontier life, Lana adjusts to the work at hand and is soon able to help her husband in the fields. Shortly after they learn that the colonies are at war with the British, their farmhouse is attacked and burned to the ground by a party of Tory-led Indians. The feisty Widow McKlennar (Edna May Oliver) provides temporary shelter for the couple, but it's only a matter of time before the Indians launch ...

| | Alan Clarke Collection DVDs (1977) Box Set
Dodge City DVD
$32.59 The cinema of Alan Clarke shines an unflinching light on the deteriorating UK society he saw crumbling around him in the 1970s and '80s. This collection gathers four of his made-for-TV films, alongside a fascinating documentary on Clarke. SCUM is the earliest work presented here, and comes in two versions: the original 1977 production, and a theatrical reworking from 1979. Both star Ray Winstone (SEXY BEAST) as a hapless victim of England's juvenile prison system, offering a damning indictment of a corrupt and brutal regime that caused incredible damage to Britain's troubled youth. MADE IN BRITAIN (1982) features Tim Roth in a lead role for the first time, portraying an unconventional skinhead named Trevor. Intelligent, yet excessively violent, Trevor bucks the cinematic stereotypes often attached to such figures, with Clarke lending a sympathetic slant to a character who boils over with rage. Six years later, THE FIRM saw the ever in-tune Clarke turning his attentions to another disease gnawing away at the bones of society: soccer violence. A huge fan of the sport, Clarke sought to distance the game from the acts of violence that tarnished its name. Gary Oldman stars as Bex, the leader of a gang of brutal hooligans. Embodying traits familiar to many of Clarke's central characters, Oldman perfectly juxtaposes Bex's above-average intellect with extreme, mindless violence. ELEPHANT (1989) rounds out this set of films, offering a unique drama based on the troubles that beset Belfast in the late 1980s. A movie with barely any dialogue or ...

| | Machuca DVD (2005)
Dodge City film
$24.49 Set in autumn of 1973, amidst the backdrop of chaotic political upheaval, the Chilean film MACHUCA grounds a heartwrenching coming-of-age tale in a traumatic socio-historical moment. Directed by Andres Wood, a Chilean-born, NYU-schooled filmmaker of astonishing talent, the film unfolds through the eyes of Gonzalo, a quiet 12-year-old boy from an upscale Santiago suburb. With his freckled cheeks and bowl haircut, Gonzalo resembles Bud Cort in HAROLD AND MAUDE, awkward and wise beyond his years. When the idealistic headmaster of his private boys school, Father McEnroe, accepts a few poor children on scholarship, Gonzalo finds himself drawn to Machuca, an intense yet warm boy from the slums of the city. After accompanying Machuca and his uncle to sell paraphernalia at two political rallies--one advocating the socialist government of Salvador Allende and the other calling for its overthrow--Gonzalo becomes a fixture in Machuca's life. In a memorable scene involving condensed milk, the two boys even share their first messy kiss with the same girl, a hardened yet spirited neighbor of Machuca.
Amidst the blossoming of a life-altering friendship are constant hints of the political turmoil and class polarization that are disrupting the boys' country. When President Allende is eventually overthrown in a violent military coup, the youths must face the irreparable divide of their divergent ...
