Peace Among The Ruins songs Product Information
Peace Among The Ruins album for sale by Presto Ballet was released Jun 07, 2005 on the Inside Out Music label. Prog rock circa the early 21st century was quite a different beast than when the genre first appeared on the scene in the 1970s. Originally, the style was much more gritty sounding, and while there was an exorbitant amount of extended jams/solos, the playing wasn't always virtuosic (in other words, a flubbed note or two wasn't a cardinal sin). Peace Among The Ruins CD music contains a single disc with 8 songs. ...See Full Description

Peace Among The Ruins buy CD music I stumbled accross this album on the Insideout Label Web site. This has got to be one of the best releases for 2005. If your into 70's Rock with a twist of Prog then this is the album for you. Deep Purple, Uria Heep and a big hepling of Captain Beyond (I think). Great Hook lines fantastic Prog passages. The trouble with thses side project releases is that sometimes you only get 1 other follow up albums. I hope in these guy's case they go on and on. They realy should be huge.

Peace Among The Ruins songs With Kurdt Vanderhood at the helm (Metal Church, Hall Aflame, Vanderhoof), I knew that I would like this but I was unprepared for just how much. Sporting influences from bands such as Styx, Kansas, Deep Purple, ELP, Yes, Golden Earring (the closing melody to "Find the Time" is quite reminiscent of the closing melody to "Vanilla Queen), Uriah Heep, etc., Presto Ballet has built upon a very strong historical foundation and given it a contemporary "treatment" The Styx, Deep Purple & Uriah Heep influences are certainly the most prevalent but a myriad of 70s sounds have crept their way onto this disc though again, I must say that Presto Ballet has made it sound very fresh, contemporary, & relevant. Per usual, the Inside Out Label has released product of the highest quality and in so doing, has provided Vanderhood the opportunity to show just how truly versatile a guitarist he really is. In fact, I prefer this band to the much heavier Metal Church product and I say that as a long time fan of the latter. The quality of the songwriting and arrangements showcased on this album will likely surprise many and I view this cd as one of the pleasant surpises of the year.
